"Ilya is good at shaping himself into whatever he needs to be. Brave for his mom, a son his dad could be - almost - proud of, a hockey player who can fight, and score, and rally, and lead. He’s spent his life turning into what other people need him to be, and those things were so often weapons. For Ilya, it’s an honour to squeeze himself into Shane’s life; it is a relief that he gets to take the shape of something soft."
Shane comes back after the fight in The Long Game. Beautiful and heartbreaking character study.

Summary
When Harry escapes from Malfoy Manor and takes the rest of Voldemort's prisoners with him, the Dark Lord isn't pleased...and it's Draco who is punished for it. After more than a month of imprisonment and abuse at Voldemort's hands, the Dark Lord finally falls, leaving Draco broken and unstable. To avoid Azkaban, Draco must complete his final year at Hogwarts, and there's no way he can manage it without help.
Harry has no desire to be anyone's master; especially not Draco Malfoy. But he owes both Narcissa and Draco a hefty debt and this may be the only way to repay them. Besides, all he has to do is get Draco through the school year...
