Summary
George pauses when he notices his hips.
He winces at the sight.
The heat from the shower had melted into the old scars. The calloused patches burn against the paleness of his usually unexposed skin, presenting an alarming contrast. Angry red lines mark his hipbones. They look like a particularly nasty rope burn—one that tore open flesh. He runs his hands over the uneven texture.
George scrubs harder, bruisingly.
For a second, hysterically, he thinks of Toto Wolff.
He presses the pads of his fingers into the area. It’s as if he clawed hard enough, he could erase the marks from his body. He knows it’s silly. Regardless, he still tries. On bad days, George tries until the blood coagulates under his nails.

Max to Mercedes is announced during summer break. George is left rotting in a team that has already forsaken him for the rest of the season. He can only crawl back to Williams, utterly abandoned by Toto, but still desperate to prove himself to the older man. He finds unlikely solace in someone he should hate the most…

This just in, Max Verstappen, recently retired from his seat in Red Bull Racing after winning his fifth championship, has walked out in AMG colors into George Russell's garage, everyone—oh, oh. This is just in from Toto Wolff. Max is now George’s new race engineer. Wow. Certainly didn’t see that coming.
(Max may be freshly retired, but he still hungers for more championships. George just happens to be the ideal vessel.)

Summary

Summary
George had been the only one who'd really seen him, in the end. Perhaps a bit too much. It’s hard not to acknowledge the only other star within the system. But anyway, it's an odd thing to know someone inside and out, especially when you wanted nothing to do with them. Max had a stupid way of breathing when he was asleep, and a stupid way of balancing his fingers on top of his knife blade when he was chopping. He likes RedBull and doesn't quite like George, and his preferred way of eating eggs is scrambled but left runny.
or, Max exits the world of fine-dining, only to come crashing back with the condition that George cooks with him this time.

George lets out a cold puff of air and shivers before speaking again. "So your dad is like, a player? Or a volunteer?"
This George guy is really testing his luck with Max, today. And it's not that Max doesn't want to engage in conversation about how amazing his father's career is - without mentioning Turin - but he doesn't see a point in doing so with a stranger he only started talking to because he caught him staring.
But still, his mother educated him well. So he restrains himself from rolling his eyes and clears his throat. "He's on the speed skating team."

Summary
They never talked about what it was between them, Max had never been good with emotions and talking and George had been too scared for things to change if they put a label on it.
And yet he had thought that they were still on the same page of wanting this to turn into more.
So when Max knocked at his door today, the Brit had pulled him in by his collar, lips already finding their way onto any available skin.
Clearly that assumption had been wrong because Max pushed him away instead and told him he was going to be publicly dating Charles Leclerc for the foreseeable future.
