Xie Yuchen was sitting in the back with his kids with a heavy heart. Just few more minutes and then everything will be different. Xie Yuchen will again become what Jiumen made him, a ruthless survivor, a manipulator.
There will be no baby like A-Cu pestering him to sing. There won’t be any more late nights tackling Liu Sang’s occasional fevers and migraines. There will be no kids attacking him in the middle of the night, asking him to shift a little so they can all sleep in the same bed. No one will call him Pa and bring him out of his black and white world.
He felt Liu Sang holding his hand tightly and looked at him. A-Cu was already holding his bicep tightly, his head on Xie Yuchen’s shoulder as tears silently made way to his pink shirt. They all knew the inevitable but none of them spoke about it out loud. When they reached the Wu residence, none of them moved.
“ Come on, let’s not keep your parents waiting. They have done that enough for a lifetime.”, Xie Yuchen smiled at them and got out of the car.
