Tom is consumed by the very notion of being better and being above everyone else, but he gets a kick out of it when that list includes you. It is the adrenaline, every now and then, or maybe the darkness that consumes his mind— but when you are involved, that simple notion shoots into action at all times. A higher score than you on a test? He will taunt you for it. That itself doesn't excite him, but when you look down at your piece of paper with big, pathetic eyes, he knows he has won— and at that visible humiliation, the blood in his veins starts pumping twice as fast.
At some point, he might have promised you he was a gentleman. But he is neither that nor a gentle man. He’s had you locked within him for a while now, without you noticing, and without you complaining. Right where he wants you— just beneath his thumb, pressing down as the power swells.

It is true that Buck often felt disregarded when he was a child, even all the way to his teens, when he became more reckless as a desperate way of showcasing that he wanted attention. That was a laughable option he chose, he thinks now, but back then he was hopeless. The more he stares at the open Wikipedia page, the more he realises the words are squished together. Is it just him or is everything getting blurry?
When he moved away from his parents’ home in Pennsylvania, he found people he cared for, and in a long process he turned that reality into a home; something he could see for himself for a long time yet to come. A place to settle down— and for once, he didn't have to fight for a place in this world, because it had been there all along, waiting for him; he just needed to find it.

"There we go," he whispers, a private smile gracing his lips. When one smiles, their skin automatically stretches, it can make them look entirely different-younger, as example, or in this case, more approachable. Mattheo's entire face changes, and it's a bizarre sight if you aren't used to it, which you definitely aren't. It's admittedly a very pretty view, his brown eyes softening, not appearing as intense as they normally do.
Colours— there are so many colours complementing his face. Brown for his eyes and hair, red for the tip of his nose due to the cold, a pink-ish shade for his upper cheeks, "Red," you say. "Your favourite colour, right?"

DON’T DEAD
OPEN INSIDEThe chains that are connected to the door are clinking. Someone tied it up real nicely, making sure no one gets through. Above the door, there is a sign that reads ‘cafeteria’. The door keeps rattling, and he hears labored breathing from behind it. It only gets more intense, groaning and pushing against said door.
Pale white fingers wiggle their way through the gap of the metal doors, just above the chains, above the wooden plank hammered into it. The nails of what he assumes used to be a woman are long and yellowish. It’s a horrifying thing to see, considering he’s in a practically abandoned hospital with not a clue in the world of what has happened.
He lets out a shaky breath and runs the other way, through another door. There’s blood all over the walls; if it isn’t handprints, it’s simply, well, blood, spattered all over the place. He arrives at the elevator, quickly pushing his thumb down onto all the buttons – nothing happens. He opens the door from the fire exit, and the flickering of the lights stops, considering it is pitch black inside the area. He closes the door behind him and lights another lucifer; the matchstick strikes.
