When Coulson tries to pry and starts asking questions she won’t—can’t give him answers to, he (surprisingly) takes the hint and backs all the way off.
She’s grateful. She doesn’t know why he cooperates so readily, but she’s not going to question good fortune. She knows better.
He’s the one who puts out a warning to the security team, in fact, that Dr. Foster likes the wild cats milling around the property she uses for her lab; they’re great mousers and they keep the desert rodent population under control for free at the old car dealership.
Be kind to them, Coulson orders.
Coulson never breathes so much as a word that Darcy knows of to anyone that Darcy uses the presence of those cats to hide her nighttime activities.
