Summary
This is Crowley’s problem— he’s always been too damn curious for his own good. Once he gets an idea in his head, something stupid and dangerous like What if I teamed up with an angel to stop Armageddon? or How fast can I go in this massive car down Oxford Street? he simply cannot let it go until he sees it through to the other end.
So now, as he probes at that secret place inside the long hallway of his heart, the dark door behind which he’s stowed over a thousand of years of pent-up longing, the question he knows he wouldn’t be able to rest until he answers is: What if I let myself feel it all?

He had spent centuries silently forgiving Aziraphale, letting small emotional injuries slide, allowing tiny betrayals, misunderstandings, and mistakes to dissolve between them while keeping the mask of cynicism perfectly in place. Why? Because Aziraphale existed like the stretching of dawn, and Crowley, of all people, found himself reaching for it. Because he had always reached for it, even when it hurt. Even when it wasn’t supposed to be his.

Throughout the millennia, the story of Aziraphale and Crowley has been imperfect but beautiful. Crowley thought Aziraphale wanted to be together forever, but when Aziraphale agrees to become the new Supreme Archangel, everything comes crashing down. Heartbroken, Crowley soon finds himself pregnant with the angel’s child. Now, Crowley is determined to protect his child and his new home at any cost, but the threat of Heaven and Hell looms over them, ready to destroy his world once again.

Summary
He's not sure if snakes brood, but Crowleys skipped right past brooding and gone straight to yearning. Aziraphale can see the longing in his eyes when he sees a child running along a street or a baby in a parent's arms. He wants more out of his life. But with that, there's an acceptance that this--this beautiful thing that humans experience every day is something he will never have.
In all fairness, Aziraphale didn't think it bothered him all that much. He thought this was just a phase Crowley experienced from March through to May then he moved on, becoming cynical and grumpy and just slightly kind.
It isn't until August that Aziraphale realizes this is something Crowley feels one hundred times more than he thought.

Summary
Grumbling, Crowley decided to finish preparing the pot as quick as he could before heading back inside. It seemed he got a few minutes worth of respite in between the pains, so hopefully he could make it back to the cottage before the next one. Hell, he'd have to explain it to Aziraphale, though. The angel was sure to notice if he kept stiffening up with each wave of discomfort, especially if it kept getting worse. And he'd fret even more when it turned out he couldn't explain what was happening to his body.
Crowley sighed, finished filling the pot, and cleared his stuff away. He gave the plants one last warning that: “Nobody bloody dies over a bit of heat, you hear me?” Then made his way back to the cottage, thinking that if it wasn't such a bloody hot day, he'd have drawn himself a bath to try and relax his muscles a bit. He was fairly sure that was it. Just overdone it a bit with dragging heavy pots around. Sore, crampy muscles were a logical follow-up from that.

Or: despite his previous sidegigs as a midwife, Crowley is surprisingly clueless when it comes to adding up his own body's quirks. Until he and Aziraphale have to face facts.
