“I’m just concerned that she’s taking advantage of your kindness.” That wasn’t a complete lie, Robby did think Dennis had a soft heart for underdogs. He wasn’t sure as to why, but it was crystal-clear that nothing brought more satisfaction to Dennis than to help someone in desperate need.
“As opposed to you taking advantage of my kindness?”
“When have I ever taken advantage of your kindness?!” Robby tried to sound sarcastic and funny, but ended up sounding wounded and vulnerable. For some reason, Dennis seemed to enjoy his reaction.

Max Mayfield thought she hated Mike Wheeler, but in the two weeks they’d been working together she’d found that they were more alike than she thought. She found that maybe she didn't mind his company as much as she thought.
Dustin Henderson was very disappointed, he’d just gotten home from camp and none of his friends had come to greet him or answered their walkies.
Or Max and Mike's boring summer working at Scoops Ahoy gets a lot more interesting when Dustin uncovers a secret Russian code. Featuring internalised homophobia, self-hate and a much deserved hug.

If you ask Shane Hollander, he'll tell you the bar's highball glasses are committing a war crime against sparkling water, your outfit has at least three structural flaws, and no, he is NOT blushing, it's just warm in here, and no, he was NOT staring at the new bartender through the gap in the ficus leaves, he was RESTING HIS EYES, and also, for the record, he doesn't care that the bartender has hazel eyes the color of warm stone in late-afternoon light or that his hands can untangle Shane's knotted fingers like they were made for exactly that purpose. He's a particularly opinionated artist with a sunset to paint. He doesn't have time for this. (He makes so much time for this.)
A neurodivergent artist with the social grace of a startled deer + a bartender with the patience of a saint + a best friend who lives for drama = a love story told in fumbled words, shared sunsets, and the quiet understanding that sometimes the most profound conversations happen without speaking a word.
