Reading this is like... exactly. Raylan clinging to Boyd - sticking close to him in the mines, following him out, getting in his truck, going for a drive with him - but it's always offhand, not talked about, circumstantial, mutually beneficial. Usually when they do this, they keep it simple. Or something Raylan could tell himself is simple, Boyd thinks. BUT IT'S NOT!!!!!!!! It really is Raylan putting on aftershave for Boyd and Boyd noticing but Boyd thinking Raylan wouldn't put it on for Boyd if it was something Boyd would notice.... what is more them than this... a perfect explanation of what digging coal together does to a mf!!!!

This is so astonishing and jam-packed I don’t even know where to START. The fact that I can be here reading this… This is about so many things because it’s about Eddie, and who he was before Derry and who he is after it. Eddie sacrifices an arm for his friends and goes back to his husband a changed person. There is a gentle theme here of unpicking, and Eddie sees both good and bad in doing so. If it’s a bur tangled and poking you, you should want it unpicked. If you tied a knot there, shouldn’t you want it to stay? Richie (ultimate male thot skills) unpicks the knots in Eddie’s pain-riddled body for him, and shows Eddie a special devotion and care that Eddie has never received before. Eddie starts a physical affair with Richie while falling for him in a way he doesn’t think is possible, and he has to unpick himself from those feelings, keep himself away from Richie. Eddie is terrified to unpick himself from his husband, someone who was good for him during a certain period of his life, but who now views him with disgust because he’s not whole in the way he used to be. But ultimately thru everything Eddie realizes he’s more whole now than he ever was before, and he can be his best whole self with Richie who loves him without condition. The exploration of how Eddie feels about his body and how the people he cares about respond to it or try to handle it or not handle it, the way Eddie feels about relationships and what he deserves, how he feels about being a gay man, how Richie feels about Eddie - it’s all just so breathtaking in its depth. Meanwhile it’s funny and clever and romantic and sexy on top of it all. There’s just no way I could possibly do it any justice with what I’m saying!!!!! Let’s just say I gasped and close mouth sobbed and laughed and open mouth sobbed the entire time. Just gorgeous from start to finish. He rubbed the cables in Eddie’s arm with the same patience as he had the hand. He never rushed, never grew bored with this weird farce. Eddie had no idea how long they sat there. He forgot he was naked, that he was vulnerable and hurt, that his marriage was fucked. All that mattered was this slow unpicking of his pain. This huge revelation of love. This is what it’s all about here people!!!!!!! Real your body changes everything hours!!!!
