Summary
Aventurine slots himself into one of the corners, hands spread out either side on the waist-high handrail. The walls of the elevator are mirrored, and the image of him glitters everywhere, impossible to miss even as Veritas steps in after him and faces the doors.
In this enclosed space, he thinks he can smell Aventurine - the vestiges of the cologne he know he likes to wear, a whiff of citrus anongst the polished metal and glass.
He closes his eyes and for a second, lets himself enjoy it. No - he should not. He opens his eyes, and makes eye contact with the reflection of Aventurine.
Aventurine’s tilted his head back against the mirror, eyes lidded so that all Veritas can see are half circles of colour. He’s handsome - he’s always handsome, but this is different. The way the lighting hits the plane of his face, maybe, or that intimate expression, or the pretty flush across his cheekbones. There’s just something about Aventurine right now that makes Veritas feel a little feral, like he could just reach over and-

That man before him lets out a soft laugh. If his precarious situation makes him nervous, he has effectively hidden that feeling behind careless bravado.

Sunday slows his step, pausing out Aventurine's arm reach. Not that Aventurine could have reached him anyway, with his arms bound behind his back.

It’s a good question, Aventurine thinks, as he remembers the mirror looking back at him.
“Mine.”
The answer doesn’t seem to please Ratio too much. “I don’t know if that reassures me, or makes me more concerned. Where exactly are you injured?”
Aventurine smiles. “Isn’t it obvious, Doctor?” He wiggles his fingers, and it hurts. He hasn’t removed the shards digging into his skin, keeping his wounds open.
“Stop moving your hand, you fool.” He snaps, “Come to the bathroom. I don’t know what you did, and I’m not going to waste my time asking, but it would be quite foolish of anyone to leave you in this state.”

"I understand that you sometimes… 'assisted' my predecessor with his heats." From his understanding, that's an understatement, but it feels rude to outright ask someone if they used to fuck your former self.
Jing Yuan's cheeks tint pink and he glances away, confirming Dan Heng's suspicions. "Ah… Yes, I… I did. Your— his heats could be a handful, so I… assisted."
"And would you be agreeable to… continuing your assistance? With me?"
Jing Yuan looks up at him in surprise, and his blush deepens as he realizes that Dan Heng is serious. "Yes," he says. "Yes, of course. It would be my honor."

Dan Heng is still adjusting to his reawakened Vidyadhara biology, and when he's hit with a heat cycle, he turns to the only person he knows can handle a dragon in heat.
