"Bourbon," he corrected quietly--none of the usual heat behind the word. "And no."Escaping from a mission gone wrong, Ghost takes a dip in a frozen river and gets himself hypothermia. Soap knows just how to fix it.

“Christ, Sergeant, don’t you know how to keep your fuckin’ mouth shut?” Ghost glared at him, eyes sharp flints of brown. “All you do is run your mouth. Just shut the fuck up for once, would you? I cannot deal with your yapping today.”
Soap had just managed to stop himself from shrinking back. His mouth dried and throat closed at the sudden feeling of shame. Ghost was right, as was every other person in his life that told him he talked way too much. He knew he was annoying, and he knew Ghost was already irritated. He should have kept his mouth shut.

Summary
Soap makes a choked off noise of pure, unadulterated panic, and then he’s floating, drifting far away as his ears ring from the sound of multiple bombs going off.
When he comes to, he only gets to be happy that he’s somehow still alive for a moment, because everything hits him all at once. Pain explodes from every single part of him he can feel, and he wants to scream. He doesn’t, instead trying to take a deep breath to ground himself, but there’s rubble on top of him that’s unyielding, restricting his every breath.
His breath catches in his throat; focus, MacTavish. Assess your situation before you start panicking.
or, Soap gets trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building, and makes the (stupid) executive decision to omit that piece of information to the rest of 141. No one is happy about this when they find out.

Gordon shakes his head. “No. I’m fine, it’s just--” he pauses for a moment. When he starts speaking again, he moves slowly, picks his words carefully. “It’s been a long time since I've been touched by someone who wasn’t... trying to kill me.”
He almost regrets speaking at the expression that fills Barney’s face. Gordon can only just barely hold eye contact on the best of days, and as much as he’s wanted to drink in the sight of Barney as often as he can, the sheer piercing sadness forces him to avert his eyes entirely.
“Do--” Barney swallows, his voice uncharacteristically quiet. “Do you... want to be?”

He’s died dozens of times before. A handful of times when he lived on Xen, a handful of times while here in Black Mesa, and so on. You know how it goes, stop paying attention mid battle and have some headcrab zombie take you out. Or your friend presses a button a little too early and you end up getting crushed and split in half by a door. Sucks to suck, I guess. It happens sometimes. And, as you could guess, he’s come back from it every single time. So really, you’d think it wasn’t a problem.
But it is. It’s a huge fucking problem.
