"It’s a problem, is what it is," Dwalin growled, crossing his massive arms as he watched the scene across the hall.
At least five Dwarves,sons and daughters of noble houses,were currently surrounding Gimli’s table. One was offering a finely wrought silver brooch; another was reciting a poem about the durability of granite; a third was trying to catch his eye with a display of masterfully tempered daggers.
By all accounts, Gimli should have been the proudest Dwarf in the Mountain. Instead, he looked as though he were chewing on a lemon.

there was a blur of movement,a whistle of wind and the distinct clack of a bow being drawn.The music died. The laughter cut out into a jagged silence.
Legolas was suddenly standing at Gimli’s side. His bow was up, the string pulled taut against his cheek, and the gleaming tip of a Mirkwood arrow was leveled directly at the center of the Dwarven lady’s forehead.

Summary
In a mountain, standing like a knife against the eastern sky, there lived a hobbit.
Not a cold, draughty crypt of a mountain, filled with cries of the dead and pain of the living, nor yet a new-born colony, striking out its place in the world. It was Erebor, and Bilbo Baggins had made the choice to remain six months prior, after the Battle of the Five Armies had solidified the Kingdom as one to be respected once more.
Something in his pocket began to stir.
Or: Bilbo Baggins discovers The One Ring. Everyone has a bad time.
(This is a sequel. The previous works total around 13k, including a one-shot of skippable smut. All smut associated with this work will be placed in skipabble side stories. Please do not be put off by the archive warnings on the others as it is NOT WHAT YOU THINK. I highly reccomend reading at least CYTM first.)

Summary
Dying was less complicated than Kíli had previously thought.
After all the pain, all the unimaginable ripping that had coursed through his body as his injuries overtook him, it was surprisingly peaceful. An abyss. An emptiness. The final curtain on one so full of life and noise.
His heart stuttered to a stop with a final thunk; something that twisted until the very feeling of the cold stone and snow beneath his back leached away.
Fading.
Drifting.
It was quiet.
At least, for somewhere in the region of approximately five seconds.Or: Kíli's turn to fix it.

For the first time in eighty years, Bilbo felt something inside him unclench. A claw fisted around his lungs loosened ever so slightly, allowing him to take one last deep breath.
To say no had never been an option.
“I accept,” he exhaled, and with that, Bilbo Baggins (Burglar, Ring-Bearer, Barrel Rider and Lucky Number) died.Somewhere else, sometime else, a recently deceased hobbit opened his eyes.
