It’s been fifteen years since Gordon put away the game for good. He packed up his life in New Mexico, moved up the country and got a real, fresh start in life, new job, new friends, the works- all was well. He doesn’t think about the people he left inside a video game after promising he’d get them out. It was just too painful, and at one point, it felt like it became too late to go back. He eventually forgot about the box that he stored the VR headset away in all those years ago, collecting dust and waiting for him to return.
Well, maybe he can’t entirely forget it, but he’s done a damn good job of ignoring it.
At least, until Joshua finds it.

this is 1/2 written by my roommate and it's an incredible au that i highly recommend to anyone that enjoys hermitcraft (especially the Area 77 arc in s6) and weird spooky stuff! while it IS a crossover, you can go into it without knowing anything about who the inmate is asides from "he's someone that's not supposed to be here"; solar and xeno did an excellent job introducing him and working in elements of his lore without it being alienating to people that've never heard of him.
the rest of the au is being ported slowly to ao3 because it's got a lot of custom formatting, but it's definitely worth the wait :D

Did he go back to the Toppats for aid, or was it Charles that had already been nearby? Of course, there was the inevitable question of... could all the above be correct?
