The breeze sifted sweetly through the openings of the pillars lining the drop-off, and the gossamer curtains that draped from the arches fluttered effervescent around them. Phainon turned to Mydei then, his gaze soft and rueful.
"Mydeimos,” he said, his hand finding Mydei’s and drawing a sharp, anticipatory inhale from the Kremnoan prince. “You once told me your weakness, and now I will tell you mine.”
Mydei’s heart sank and a terrible pit churned in his stomach. “You don't need—”
Phainon interrupted him with a half-hearted shake of the head. “If anything happens, Mydeimos, and the other Chrysos Heirs or Okhema… if even Amphoreus itself is threatened because of me, my weakness is you.”
Or in which, Mydei must deal with the consequences of his curse of immortality lasting longer than expected.

“As much as I appreciate your help, it isn't as though I can’t handle this on my own!”
“It’s been more than a fortnight since we’ve heard from you!”
"That can't be right." An arch of blue and they were down to less than a dozen. "I sent a message by teleslate not three days ago.”
Strife’s Trial leaves Phainon a lonesome wanderer in the golden fields of his own grief. Mydei volunteers to bring him back.

Phainon is a top-tier assassin—silent, precise, unstoppable. Or at least, he was until Mydei, his target who he accidentally saved.
Somehow, every time he is finally mentally prepared to get rid of him, Mydei wanders too close, flashes a smile, or—worst of all—starts a conversation. Phainon should be annoyed. Instead, he’s distracted. And maybe, just maybe, a little smitten.

"Oh, don't be so dramatic," Kaveh huffed.
Well, if Alhaitham were in a snarky mood, he would've retorted something along the lines of, "It takes one to know one," but alas, his fur was standing on end as if there was static in the air. His tail flicked to and fro as he glared daggers towards the fuzzy thing in his roommate's arms.
Kaveh has brought home a tiny, injured kitten, and Alhaitham must learn to live with it, eventually.

Alhaitham couldn’t pinpoint the reason for his uneasiness until someone walked into his office unannounced to discuss something with him. He sighed to himself, instinctively reaching for the button on his headphones to mute the sound around him so that he could focus on his work without being disturbed by someone who didn’t even have the courtesy to knock–
And then it didn’t work.
Alarm bells quickly went off in Alhaitham’s head. A fluke, certainly. He must have not pressed the button hard enough. It wouldn’t be the first time a small mistake like that happened.
He presses it again, harder this time to ensure that it was actually turned on.
Nothing.
Okay. Maybe he should be panicking a little bit now.
