    One particularly large wave broke against a nearby rock and splattered his face. He licked the salt off his lips, laughing, and turned to Lan Wangji.

    Lan Wangji stood a safe distance from the surf. He had one hand clutched tight around Bichen and the other resting on his hip. From this distance, he looked impassive, but Wei Wuxian knew that Lan Wangji's eyes would be soft, watching him delight in this new experience.

    In his first life, Wei Wuxian had been the second-strongest swimmer in Yunmeng Jiang; he took to water as easily as he took to cultivating the sword. Now, in Mo Xuanyu's body, he struggled with both.
