Summary
In the fall of 1953, Eugene sends an ad to the San Francisco Chronicle. It reads:
Professional single male, late 20s, located in Dogpatch. Clean, considerate & responsible, seeking similar. Pets O.K. Smoking O.K. First month + security up front. Contact Eugene for details. Serious enquiries only.
Eugene is freshly divorced and outgrowing the life he had painstakingly made for himself after returning from war. Merriell is grieving, aimless, roaming the length of the Pacific coast looking for a place to collect himself. The first time they speak, Eugene is suffering a late summer nosebleed. Merriell had just pawned his mother's earrings for first month's rent. He moves in the same day.
feat. splinters, workwear, payphone calls, cruising. the delicate hot-house flower that is merriell. eugene at his most neurotic. sea fog & starlings & improbably hot first time sex. the inherent insanity of falling for your landlord.

Summary
Three hundred years ago – with the birth of this isola – a countdown began. Slowly ticking. An hourglass with sand borrowed from a future that will never exist. Like a tear through time, a hole to compensate for all that is not supposed to be here yet.
The problem does not lie within the silence of the church. It lies within us.
Human consciousness.
Maybe the presence of a simple priest is what’s holding the world together. The low whisper of continuous prayer like bolts in the substance of humanity.
--
Jean Vicquemare is a dolorian priest in Martinaise, battling with unwanted desires while simultaneously dealing with the porch collapse at his literal doorstep. Harry bumps right into Jean's carefully balanced temperance with the grace of a drunk bumblebee.

Summary
SOLA, THE ANTI-INNOCENCE - Her silver, disco-dancer jumpsuit glints blindingly. “I know you resent me, for keeping what I know from you. To be the anti-innocence isn’t *flattery* from the masses.” Her smile is slight and wry, thin lipped. “Oh, I’m sure you wish I were your Dolores Dei, sweetheart. Your past and your future, to open the pale to Elysium. Sing the magpie song. But I wasn’t, and we both knew I would never be. The future wasn’t mine to give.”
LEVERAGE - This is it. She’s done: speech over, rule over, game over. The people are held captive by the crinkle at the corners of her eyes and the sharp cut of blond hair against her thin back, the humanity behind her distance. They couldn’t protest to her resignation if they *tried.*
PARAPHRENIA [Godly: Success] - You know, I don't think Sola was blond.
