Summary
With the day of her apparent death nearing, Moiraine’s self-control wavers in stark ways. Her impulses are enabled by an unwitting Wise One as she chances a trip to Tel’aran’rhiod, seeing red in the wake of the pain Rand had suffered in Cairhien at Lanfear’s whim. Rand himself, in the meantime, spends the first half of the day with a woman he might call a colleague—if he holds his own well enough, of course—all the while blissfully unaware of the damage Moiraine has sustained.

Summary
Following the intimacy they shared after the tragic killing of Alsera, Rand and Moiraine both happen to engage in revealing interactions with Lanfear in their respective dreams. Rand’s interaction is pure chance, whereas Moiraine’s is sealed with raging purpose. After this, they debrief together. Conclusions feel like pulling teeth, none of them cheap or easy. In other words, a companion piece to a work in this series titled ‘wake to your likeness’.

Summary
The killing of Alsera breaks Rand in two. Moments just after the incident, when the dust has not yet settled and the blood has not yet dried, he needs to be washed clean of his sin. Despite the glaring threat to her safety and Lan’s fervent protests, Moiraine volunteers to help and very nearly suffers devastating consequences. There is an opening, now, and a cracking which must all be navigated amidst Rand’s raw grief.

Some details are taken directly from cast interviews and put at the centre of the writing. Some pieces can be read as stand-alones, in which case self-referential activity and interconnectedness within text might go over one's head. The ones which can be read that way will be tagged accordingly. Heavily inspired by music albums, namely Wild Alee by Talos—may he rest easy—and Hospice by The Antlers.

Tired of craning her neck to look at Michael, she rolled to the side to face them. It was curious… She hadn’t exactly thought of herself as a woman in a long time. She was a vampire. That’s what she thought of herself as first. She couldn’t fit in any box humans created anyway. And Michael… he almost couldn’t fit in the boxes vampires and lycans had created for themselves either. He was something else entirely.
