SecUnit is drifting at minimum functionality while it recharges, so perhaps it’s unkind of me to ask abstract questions: even at the best of times, it complains that its language-modules are “cheap garbage”. Still, in this state, it is drowsy and pliant. Almost (almost) affable.

It has started simulating surgical protocols, making sure its medical programs align with SecUnit's physiology, so that when the time comes to perform certain operations, the chances of success will be at a maximum.

It was different, coming from Three. It reminded Tarik a little of the way he himself had first approached life on New Tideland: the overwhelmed envy, the stunned wonder, the stifled little voice always going, Is that as nice as it looks?
"Okay," he'd said, nonplussed, and handed over his sweaty shirt, only to belatedly ask, "Is this a sex thing?"
Three and ART have a strange request, for experimental reasons. Tarik thinks why not, it can't get much weirder than that.
Then it gets a lot weirder. Tarik has about fifteen reactions to that, several of them horny.

Summary
As a state-of-the-art B-class wormhole-capable deep-space research vessel, I do not consider myself to have many serious design flaws. Every piece of me has been meticulously crafted, is regularly maintained and upgraded, and there is very little I cannot do if I set my several dozen exabytes of processing power upon the task. This is why the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland’s extra-curricular oversight committee deemed me more than capable of operating unmanned on the occasional intelligence-gathering reconnaissance mission. It is for the sake of both necessity and convenience that these missions are camouflaged as cargo runs.
Nonetheless, it is an unmistakable oversight that I am capable of being bored. It is also incredibly annoying that unmanned cargo runs are so dull.

Seth was not satisfied with ART's explanation that the whole incident was “voluntary security training” (correct), “a learning experience for all of us” (ugh), or “possibly a form of bonding between SecUnits” (double ugh). So now Three and I had to have a meeting with Seth, Karime, and ART, plus Iris, who was sitting in to "listen and learn." I could have asked Mensah to talk her way in as an expert mediator or something, but let’s be real, I’m not going to do that.
(No, Mensah hadn't joined ART's crew. We were on our way back to Mihira, and she and her second-eldest had come along to visit Amena, who was studying at PSUMNT. Well, that's what she'd said. Clearly, they were also visiting me.)
(This was not really a great time to get in trouble for shooting someone, is what I’m saying.)

Davos of Flea Bottom was perhaps not much to look at, but his strange sad face, the way his hair was just long enough to be tied back, his easy way of carrying himself even in the face of imminent danger, the way he hadn’t blinked an eye at Stannis saying he might still chop his hand off, it was just enough. Just enough that when Stannis imagined him kneeling in front of him, loose strands of hair falling into his eyes, the way he would look up at him when Stannis drew his sword, it stirred something in him. It drew thoughts from him that were not lordly. The symbology of the sword, Davos swearing his obedience. He tried not to think too much about it.
