Summary
Alex stirs. Henry trails his hand down Alex's chest, nuzzles into his neck. A low, soft noise escapes Alex's mouth; he pushes back against Henry's hips, and Henry echoes it with a noise of his own. His mind is slowly awakening, catching up to the instinctual responses of his body. His eyes cast over the two of them, tangled up under the blankets and bathed in light.
Suddenly, all the implications of what the bright sunlight means—shades thrown wide open, snipers on top of buildings, long-range lenses shooting them in their most private moments—sends icy bullets through his chest.
Several years later, Henry is still working through the trauma of their forced outing. Alex helps him.

“Steve Rogers,” Bucky repeats, mouth twisting bitterly. “Captain America. The same Captain America who’s buried in ice, who fucking sacrificed his fool ass to stop the Red Skull, who crashed a motherfucking plane into goddamn ice nine days ago.”
“Twelve,” Steve corrects a little numbly, because that’s the easiest part he can address. “I went down on February 2nd. It took them a while to determine whether or not to let the public know. To weigh the demoralization my death will cause against the vengeful heroics my sacrifice will inspire. Clearly, they decided on the latter eventually, but I’ve been told it was pretty close.”

Louis sits up, pulls his shirt down that Harry pushed up at one point and wishes he could find the courage to just tell him already.
Instead he says, “You just know.” And that's definitely the cheesiest and least helpful answer to that question ever. But it's still the truth.

Zayn is an art student and volunteer EMT who kind of just wants to be all Liam needs regardless of whether they're meant to be.
(Basically, Liam says 'fuck you' to the soulmate system and Zayn pretends he doesn't know the truth.)

Louis makes a noise in the back of his throat. “And you're loud as hell, making cookies in the fucking kitchen at arse o’clock in the morning,” the boy winces again, green eyes shining in guilt at the older boy. “This is the first I'm hearing of you.”
“It's Harry, actually,” he says good naturedly, dumping the dirty flour in the trash and turning to the sink to wash his hands. “But I like that nickname, too.”
