Summary
After overhearing a fascinating story about an obscure temple tucked into some corner of Liyue Harbor, Childe had only meant to have a little fun at Zhongli's expense; he'd earned at least that much after the Osial Incident. Unfortunately for Childe, his track record at outmaneuvering Zhongli isn't exactly stellar.
There's a not-quite hysterical cadence to Childe's quiet words as he leans in closer, sweeping a hand wide to encompass shelves heavy with hundreds upon hundreds of icons and figurines depicting Rex Lapis in various forms both draconic and human, lovingly crafted and singularly, proudly well-endowed. "This is your dick temple," he whispers, for emphasis. "Just - here, in the middle of Liyue Harbor?"
"Worship comes in many forms, as a servant of the Cryo Archon is surely well aware," Zhongli says serenely, eyes narrowing in suspicion when Childe makes a small strangled sound to avoid pointing out the unfortunate innuendo. "What god would turn away a sincere offering?"
"The Tsaritsa doesn't have a dick temple," Childe mutters.

He should not have come unannounced. Doing so has been both crass, and impolite. These are adjectives that ought never be used to describe the Iudex, the great impartial judge presiding over Fontaine and her grand courts.
Yet he is here, and the receptionist manages to be politely bewildered about it – though he doesn’t doubt the nature of the whispers that will soon follow in his wake. Mistakes have been made here today, but they have already been made. Therefore he might as well see this through to its originally desired conclusion.
Neuvillette pays a visit to the Fortress of Meropide.
Even he isn't entirely sure what he seeks to find down there.

Summary
A good lover is not something Childe would be so bold as to claim for himself, but he is eager to prove himself. He is earnest and adaptive and burning so fiercely now, entrenched in the depths of this hunger that only seems to spiral deeper and deeper. He lets Zhongli lead him to the side of his bed, and Childe will follow — keeping his eyes fixed on Zhongli’s gaze — his lips brushing against the smooth ridges of Zhongli’s knuckles, whispering words Childe did not know he could summon —
“Zhongli… how I've anticipated this moment — how eager I am to repay you for your generosity, divulging your knowledge to me, humble servant of another god from a foreign land — taking me into your home, filling my cup —”
Those curtains surrounding the bed are drawn aside, and Zhongli sits himself elegantly along the side of the mattress. Childe kisses his way up the inside of Zhongli's wrist, falling to his knees before his seated figure above him.
"Zhongli — would you let me show you?"

Childe does not mention the other things he loves, like the mole under his eye, the way his fingers hold a matchstick to light his pipe, the way he runs his fingers through his bangs when he’s frustrated, and the gentle sway of his long ponytail as he walks. Filing his attraction down to Zhongli as completely sexual is easy and carefully practised.

Summary
There was more to the contract than a gnosis and test of Liyue. It seemed like a simple deal five hundred years ago: so long as Morax never had a soulmate, the Tsaritsa would never harm Liyue and she would not get his gnosis. But the moment he gained a soulmate, all that belonged to him was forfeit. He thought the deal left Liyue safe—he'd lived thousands of years without a soulmate. The Tsaritsa would be dead and gone by the time she'd have a chance to collect.
Five hundred years later, Childe appears in Liyue, Zhongli gains a soulmate mark, and everything falls apart.
(The obligatory soulmate AU, featuring a Zhongli with trauma, an oblivious Childe, and demon-worshipping cultists.)

Aether invites Childe to rest inside the Realm Within until his injuries from Foul Legacy heal while Zhongli is taking residence within as well. Still sore about the former Geo Archon's deception, Childe decides they have a debt to settle, and things only go awry from there.
They hadn’t spoken since the day the Geo Archon’s gnosis traded hands.
Signora’s deception had been something Childe’d come to expect from his fellow Harbingers. They were creatures of calculation, happiest enough to simper and smile and play the role of the ordinary Snezhneyan diplomat whilst whetting a knife in preparation for an inevitable backstabbing. It’d been mostly unsurprising to find her usurping his would-be victory in Liyue, snatching Morax’s gnosis right out from under his nose.
Zhongli’s lie, on the other hand. Now that had come as a shock.
It wasn’t that Childe held a grudge. He wasn’t one to hold them. But he was one to settle debts, and he felt strongly that there was such a debt to be settled here, one not so easily forgiven even with his and Signora’s departure from Liyue with their quarry in hand.
