Summary
You say, “get out of here, Recruit,” as mean as you can, as unfriendly as you can make it. The kind of voice that makes other recruits just about piss their pants.
Cope just looks at you, all the way from the door. A tin cup between his hands. In five small, carefully balanced steps, he crosses the room to you. He puts the cup down on the desk, beside your left wrist. “Dismissed, Cope,” you say through your teeth. He turns silently on his heel and leaves. He leaves the door open, so you can hear them cheering for him.
Someone jokes that he’s survived the dragons den, and you wonder if they know.
After a moment, you pick up the cup. It’s half full of whiskey, strong as a memory. Out there, the recruits start singing Bohemian Rhapsody, and you are elsewhere, remembering Maitra’s eyes that day when he’d called Wilkinson a faggot. The way he’d looked at you, your hands still over the pieces of your disassembled rifle, a song still on your lips, and he’d known—or, you’d known that he suspected.
You put your lips to the edge of the cup, imagining Copes mouth on the metal, and sip slowly, like it’s something else you’re tasting.
Again, you are wanting something you don’t deserve to have.

Summary
Gurathin doesn’t sleep, the night that it leaves. Too much has happened – too much has changed – too much to think about. And, besides that, the residual panic, the residual headache and tension in his skull and spine, the spiralling thoughts about how he’s going to break it to the others that it’s left–
The next night, though – when he finally collapses, exhausted, into his bunk – he sleeps. He almost immediately wishes he hadn’t.
(It turns out, downloading a person into your brain has Consequences, Actually. Who'd have thought. Gurathin finds this out the hard way.)

Murderbot likes to take things fast; a little Sanctuary Moon roleplay in an attempt to slow things down can only take them so far before someone breaks character.

This is the first of a few mini bonus stories I promised various people as a reward for guessing one of my favourite lines in my fic Trapdoor Function, posted rather criminally late (but I didn't forget!) These are standalone pieces and you don't need to have read that to read these.
Prompt: Planet of the fluffy fauna. I took you literally at your word.

Summary
Humans on Preservation stood approximately eighteen centimetres closer to each other when engaging in conversation than humans on the Rim.
They also sat closer when in friendly settings, often within range of physical contact. Obviously that varied depending on the person. Bharadwaj in particular, seemed to habitually invade the personal space of anyone she considered a friend.
She hadn't tried to sit on my lap yet, but surely it was only a matter of time. Even the thought of it made my performance reliability drop by 3%.
Or, Murderbot wants to experiment with getting to its humans touching it. It ropes Gurathin in to its experiments.

Summary
Ratthi trolls the feed. Murderbot feeds the troll.
An accidental series in which the Preservation Aux crew takes advantage of Gurathin's suddenly (reluctantly) acquired strong opinions about Sanctuary Moon to write targeted fanfiction designed to bait Murderbot into keeping in touch, through the power of hate-reading.

Summary
Ratthi persuades Murderbot and Gurathin to go on a survey trip to a planet with the ominous nickname of Spider Planet. Soon, troubles with corporates and the local fauna mean that SecUnit is earning its currency cards, but nothing SecUnit can't handle - until it can't.
"I’d like to say that at least things couldn’t get any worse, but whenever someone says that in the media things inevitably do get worse and that seems to be one of the things media actually gets right. Oh right. I just remembered how this gets worse: the only person who could help me was Gurathin."

Summary
I’m confused at why these humans insist on performing additional work to make food when there is no lack of access to meal packs. On assignment, complaints about access to specific types of meal packs had caused a significant number of fights and productivity-costing injury.

Summary
The augmented human turned on his heel and left, trailed by a drone. I continued to stand around for a bit, facing but not really looking at a large, leafy shrub that the humans had placed in this area for aesthetic purposes.
Aesthetics mattered to humans. They mattered to me, too, I guess. There were unquestionably things that I liked the appearance of: my favorite jacket, the glitter of lights across the hull of a nice ship, the color of the tiles I’d picked out for my shower. Even some of Ratthi’s handmade jewelry held visual appeal—don’t tell him I said that. But a sentient entity? A SecUnit?
Me?
What a bizarre concept.
In which Murderbot notices a disturbing trend.
