Most people assumed that, given his abrasive work personality, Mycroft wanted to be the dominant partner in the bedroom. Or the entire opposite – that he wanted to be dominated in a manner he couldn’t indulge in elsewhere. He detested both presumptions with equal passion – he found hints of violence and coercion off-putting, if not distressing, and verbal abuse (the derogatory terms some of his would-be partners seemed to love) frankly a monumental turn-off. He craved gentle lovemaking with an equal partner; one who would coax him, caress him, tease him till he was ready to weep while whispering words of encouragement and adoration. A partner who would appreciate having his body canvassed in an equally tender but passionate manner in return.

Yet, he found himself unable to redirect his imagination – he had always had a weakness for power. In his youth, it had been strong, muscular men capable of overpowering him physically. But Lestrade had later discovered that that thrill had been nothing compared to the attraction he felt towards the man in a bespoke suit. Summary
Someone had really done a number on the poor man’s self-confidence, Greg thought to himself. Though Mycroft was extremely confident in professional settings (to the point of arrogance), his confidence in himself and his qualities as a person was sorely lacking. After discovering how an honest compliment could make the ice man blush, Greg vowed to verbalise all his sentiments regarding the man’s qualities (Mycroft deserved the praise). The man had been so charmingly embarrassed, but the embarrassment had not hidden the fact that he had also been pleased, rather than merely flustered. (Greg found the flustered look oddly adorable.)

Their affair had been almost unbearably sweet while it lasted (the sex had been fabulous), but, of course, it could not and did not last. Greg had come to acknowledge years later (a long way into his not-yet-failing marriage with Jen) that they had both been at fault. He had been too insecure about his working-class background, and Mycroft had been too high-handed and perhaps also insecure in his own way. Both too proud and too stubborn to apologise.

There were a few traits Mycroft might have envied in his brother. Sherlock had gotten the sculpted looks, a talent for not being burdened by how he was perceived by others and a conveniently flexible conscience. Mycroft cared not, for he had something much better (in addition to his superior intellect): a soulbond, indicated by a delicate but unmistakable golden glint around his heart since his 15th birthday. The universe had bestowed him with a perfect match, someone who would cherish him no matter what. A person that he vowed to cherish in return.
It is truly a pity that Mycroft's fated turns out to be of a social standing so decidedly beneath his own.

Summary
The elections were fast approaching, and it was time for Mycroft Holmes to take a personal look at the latest candidate dominating the opinion polls, in line to become the next Prime Minister. On the surface, the leading man seemed perfectly average, though serviceable: relatively attractive physically speaking, with moderate opinions, well spoken, but with little distinctive flair. His one remarkable point was his wife, who might have been responsible for no small share of his popularity. Overall, the candidate and his wife put on an excellent act: an adoring husband with a confident wife, but Mycroft is a hard man to fool. However, even he had not expected to like her quite so much – it was one thing to know that she was charming and another thing entirely to experience her warmth and charisma at first hand.

With the reliable Dr Watson no longer in the picture, Sherlock was particularly obnoxious, disorderly and a general hazard to himself, as well as to his immediate environment. There was only one solution: someone else needed to take the reins. That perfect someone: a female partner/companion for Sherlock. Women, after all, held the keys to unlock life’s challenges. (As an intelligent man, he could recognise that they were so much better at it than the average man.)

Mycroft Holmes and “Anthea” play a dangerous and sexy game, coming face to face in a duel of wits and deception, where nothing is quite as it seems. While everyone knows that Mycroft will come out on top, he might actually prefer an entirely different position. Will London be preserved? Will the French run out of letters? Why is Anthea not wearing any underwear? Should Mycroft try hot yoga? Who will finally see what wonders hide underneath the three-piece suit (TM)?
This is the story of the meeting of two pairs of intelligent grey eyes (hiding a smutty imagination), equally exasperated by the general lack of professional competence, a.k.a. how Mycroft discovered he might have danger and intelligence kinks (let's be frank, we all knew about the three-piece suit one already). Predictably, three-piece suits make an appearance but, alas, not the umbrella.
