A nod into his hands. “Good. Listen to me carefully, my dear. If you want, I can take it all away for a little while. If you put me on, I will get us both out of here, and you don’t have to see or think about anything. How does that sound?”

After being kidnapped and held for ransom by one of the city's younger and more reckless thieves guilds, Azune is injured and traumatized to the point where his friends can't rescue him without hurting him worse. Letting Bolaire put him on/putting on the mask lets Hal, Bolaire, and Murray get him out of there, but taking him off again will be a lengthier, and gentler, process.
