But, for now, he figures he still has a few more hours of Frick and Frack, and those idiots are not going to penetrate his innermost defenses. For the time being, he can afford to be a little indulgent and melodramatic in the privacy of his own mind. Sure, Frick and Frack may accidentally kill him with their clumsy inexperience, but at least Maria got away.

What happens is (he's so fucked) that Mr. Edgeworth kisses him back. Mr. Edgeworth kisses him with the same vigor that he displays in court, as if he's cross-examining Eddie's tongue, and Eddie melts. Who wouldn't? He kisses like he's taking Eddie under his wing for a brand-new kissing internship, all assured and knowing, a hand cupped around his jaw and another on his hip.
