Summary
He opened the door, and with one last glance, he looked at Leorio peacefully asleep. He wished he was a deep sleeper like that.
He knew he was only breaking his own heart by doing this. By leaving the warmest bed he'd ever known.
-
Or, two sleepless nights. one night where he left on his own, and one where they left together.

Summary
"You're so conceited," Kurapika pointed out, filling his mug with more breakroom coffee. He then turned towards Leorio, filling his mug also. They clinked their coffee together. "Though, you are the most bearable person here."
"As are you," Leorio sighed, turning around towards the exit back to their office. "Now back to work then, Pikachu."
"I take back what I said." Kurapika mumbled as they parted their separate ways towards their respective departments.
--
Kurapika works in the political and law department for the Hunters Association charity organization, and is currently fostering eight year old Killua. Leorio works in the medical department for said organization, and is eight year old Gon's part-time legal guardian. Gon and Killua become inseparable friends at the offices "bring your kid to work day", unintentionally (or so it seems) bringing their legal guardians closer than ever. -

"What do you need help with, exactly?" Leorio finally said.
"Ever been to Vegas?"
As always, Kurapika was going to be the death of him. Curse his big love-struck heart.
--
Hunters University, where only the best of the best, strongest, quick witted, and driven people can get in- can survive the exam- and live through all four years of schooling. Where your roommate was a pain in the ass, but like- in a good way.
--
Maybe this was it, maybe this was a weak attempt to step back into his life after not seeing him since graduation. But he missed Kurapika, missed him so much, and he would do anything for him, literally, even if it meant going to Vegas to kill a man. -

"Hey, 404," The man's voice called out to him from behind. "Wanna do this together?"
"Why should we?" He responded a bit sarcastically, like he was trying to mess with him.
"I don't think there's anyone else here you're particularly interested in playing with, right? And I think we enjoy each others company."
Kurapika turned around and stared at him for a moment, analyzing his facial expression. Choosing him shouldn't be bad at all, in his opinion he thought this guy had a good shot at winning all six games anyway.
"Ok," Kurapika said, then pausing. "We could make a good pair."
"That's the spirit, 404." They shook hands.

"If I had known you would propose to me tonight I wouldn't have changed out of my formal clothes! I must look ridiculous being proposed to in sweatpants and one of your shirts!" Kurapika let out through laughs and smiles, confusing Leorio a bit.
"I'm not going to tell you that I'm proposing, who the fuck does that?!"

Summary
Leorio mulls over the words in his head. Thinks extra carefully because he's sure he knows what's happening, and while he was right that, if what he suspects is true, Kurapika has certainly been through worse, this is still more than either of them can handle. It's huge and complicated and tugs at something warm and hopeful in his chest that he'd rather squash down and not think about.

Summary
Kurapika does not mean to crash into the tall, handsome doctor’s office through an interdimensional portal from a vastly different universe— but things, generally, do not tend to work out for Kurapika in a way that he wants. Case in point: the sudden lurch in time and space, the ungraceful landing on both hands and knees, the doctor standing in front of him, gaping.
*
In which Kurapika is an interdimensional fugitive who keeps coming back to a doctor in New York City.

Summary
Greed Island. “The World’s Playground.” That hotbed of excess, beauty, and debauchery, the island where the rules are merely suggestions. Hedonism runs the day as tourists flock to its casinos, clubs, amusement parks, and pristine beaches and forests. And keeping the revelers safe are the brave members of the GISD - the Greed Island Safety Department.
Following the devastating loss of his previous firehouse, loose-cannon Kurapika isn’t sure he ever wants to go into the field again. But when his long-suffering brother, Pairo, decides they need a change, they trade in their winter coats and gloves for shorts and swimsuits and join the esteemed crew of House 36 (or, in Pairo’s case, serve as their eyes in the sky as a dispatcher). There, they meet a cast of characters as colorful as their new home’s flora and fauna.
Kurapika is only looking for a job. He doesn’t need - or want - a new family. He’s sure his new House and a brash, brilliant, beautiful paramedic just might turn his entire demolished world upside down.
Or it could put him back together again.

Summary
"This kid... What's his name?"
"Kurapika. Kurapika Kurta."
"Right. And why do you believe he belongs in our academy?"
"Well—I mean, for one, he's wanted by the police for murder."
-
Children of government and criminal organizations from all over the world gather under the earth of San Francisco to attend the deadliest academy in the world. All of them are learning one thing: how to kill.
It's 1987, and compared to being out on the streets—hungry, homeless, and wanted for murder—disillusioned Kurapika thinks joining a school for assassins is a rational choice.
(It's not a rational choice. In the slightest.)
Surrounded by some of the most dangerous people in the world, Kurapika seeks something that will quell the rage inside him. Maybe a little vengeance will do the trick—vengeance on the group of people who ruined his life and everything good in it.
Blood will spill.
At least he has his friends. If he's going to die, he might as well have something to die for.

Summary
"In that moment, it was as though time had slowed down- Leorio gave a strangled shout as the mer flung themself towards him, and his eyes caught all the little details of their face as his briefcase skittered across the rocks and his supplies went flying: the gemstone earring swaying from their earfin, dual ruby irises burning in fury, razor-sharp fangs gnashing threateningly, the large gash across their abdomen oozing a sickening red-wine. It was terrifying, but also jaw-dropping in a way that thunderstorms at the beach were, and Leorio would have run without a second thought.
Would have, if their face didn’t contort into something of horrible pain- didn’t make that incredibly human noise of agony."
---
Merperson Kurapika au in which Kurapika injures themself near-fatally, Leorio is a med student, and Kurapika reluctantly accepts his offered help.
