Roy and Riza marry in secret to be eligible to adopt the Elrics and grant them parental consent to join the military. Roy didn't think the boys needed parents, Riza believed it was all they boys had ever needed. They both knew that they weren't at all prepared to take care of two young alchemists.
They'd handle it together, though, just like everything else.

Roy, Riza, Edward, and Alphonse set off on the long and bumpy road to learning what it's like to have a family as the events of the series unfold around them.

Summary
Kate took in as much of a breath as she could fill her burning lungs with and heard her own voice crack as she breathed, “Tyler?”
His eyes softened at the sound of her dispirited voice, they had glistening tears pooling as he tensed his own hand in a fist before placing it back on Kate’s arm. This shouldn’t have happened. It was needless, stubborn, and horrifying that any of this happened, they should've never ended up in that storm much less have died as a result of it.
OR a very self-indulgent slight enemies to lovers with both Tyler and Kate meeting in college before her project leads to the deaths of her friends and offers a friendship to her as he processes his own similar losses.

Pulled from Hell and thrown to earth. Traumatized beyond belief. Not only did Swiss have to continue dealing with pre-existing problems, he also had to deal with the additional feelings for the pack firecracker and the resurfacing of broken memories.
He felt the weight of the world on his shoulders and hardly knew what to do with it.

Summary
Swiss locks eyes with him, faces mere inches apart. He can feel Rain’s cool breath ghost over his face while he considers the question, not quite sure himself. Not only had he physically changed himself with the miniscule incentive of a fun surprise for his beloved, but he was impatient to do so.
A plethora of reasons buzz through his mind, thoughts of wanting to feel closer to the water ghoul, to understand this important part of him, the idea of being able to show him just how much he really means to him, that he is worth it. So many words and so many ways to tell Rain exactly how deep his love runs. A desire to find a way to say outloud the way that loving him and being loved in return leaves a river of bliss running through his veins.
Finally he compresses these thoughts and settles on “Your gills are an integral part of you, and my love for you is an integral part of me. It just felt right.”Swisstopher being so far gone on Rain that he is a stupid impatient idiot in an attempt to make his water ghoul happy.
