Summary
Cas’ feet landed heavily on each step down. He barely remembers the journey back to the Bunker. His brain faltered when the word ‘home’ came to mind. This didn’t feel like home. He was unfamiliar with the concept but despite the amount he tried, he still found it hard to realise that this wasn’t it.
What would be the final straw for Cas to see the situation he's in? What would lead Dean to finally understand the impact of his choices and actually get his head out of his ass? This started as a slightly harsher retelling of The Rupture, but it get's worse before it gets better.

Originally there were seven archangels. God didn't left Heaven on his own but was forced into hiding and is partially human. The archangels share a more profound bond. Naomi and Metatron are allies in their hopes to destroy Heaven. The angels and archangels are being mind controlled. Lucifer isn't actually evil.
Or where Castiel is actually a powerful archangel, Chuck isn't an undercover bastard and the angels had been brainwashed since the Fall of Lucifer
Inspired by Samandriel's comment of "They are controlling us Castiel". After eons of headaches I finally managed to pull something decent from that wonderful comment LOL

Summary
They'd done it, actually defeated and banished Chuck. Dean's adrenaline-fueled pulse hadn't even had a chance to fully stop thundering in his ears when, to his horror, Castiel's brilliant smile slipped from his face and he dropped, lifeless, to the ground.
No way was that going to be the end of this story, though. If he could literally face down and beat God, then no ridiculous bargain with some kind of shadow monster (all-powerful Entity, his ass) was going to stop Dean from finally having what he'd wanted for so long. A little spellwork, a little help from Billie, and a lot of pointless protesting from the rest of the gang, and then Dean was off and hurtling into the Empty in hot pursuit.
But when were things ever as simple as he'd hoped they'd be? Getting into the Empty and finding Castiel would be the easy part; the road home would be another sort of journey entirely.

Summary
“He’s not me,” is all Castiel hears himself say. He doesn’t know why he feels the need for the justification. No one even really hears it amid the roar of the truck starting up and Sam calling for everyone to jump in the back.
But he hears it. The Other Castiel. Not-Him. He looks over his shoulder as Dean drags him away, lips lifting into a crooked sneer. As if to say if you really knew you weren’t me, you wouldn’t need to say it.

Long case fic with strong emphasis on Team Free Will friendship/family bonds. Will get serious and angsty and lonely. ALERT: There will be two versions of this fic, Destiel and platonic. This version (Flight) is the Destiel version. Slow build and mostly pre-Destiel. The platonic version will be called Broken and will be posted later.
