He used to own this place. The rink, the ice, the silence. It bowed beneath him like it was lucky to be chosen. Every jump was a threat, every spin a dare. He hadn’t realized how much of his sense of self came from the sound of applause.
Now the silence feels accusatory.
But still— he comes.

He was about to interject the all-too-familiar misnaming when he felt the couch shake suddenly beside him. He lolled his head to the side against the back of the couch and saw Thanos had bolted upright and was angled so he was facing Nam-gyu more, hands splayed out in the air in front of him and eyes blasted wide like he had the epiphany of a lifetime. Or, considering the shit-eating grin Nam-gyu could tell was threatening to appear on his face, like he was about to suggest something absolutely batshit insane.
"Hey, so since we're both pretty pent up, why don't we just help each other out, huh?" Thanos suggested, raising his eyebrows and giving a little nod for added convincing.
Aaand there it was. Nam-gyu internally cursed himself for knowing Thanos too well.

Nam-gyu slowly faced Thanos again and was met with a stern look from him like he already knew what was coming. There was no way he didn't: Nam-gyu's jealous streak wasn't a surprise to anyone with more than three brain cells, and Thanos had at least four even on a bad day.
"Nam-gyu, don't," Thanos warned, but it fell on deaf ears as he was met with furrowed brows and narrowed eyes.
"Are you fucking kidding me, Thanos?" Nam-gyu spat out with a harsh tone. "You're not about to brush that off like it didn't just fucking happen right in front of me."
"Don't start with me right now, it wasn't like that," Thanos said, sounding very certain with himself, albeit annoyed. There wasn't a tinge of guilt anywhere in his voice or on his face like you'd expect from someone caught staring at a girl's rack right in front of their partner, and something about it pissed Nam-gyu off even more.

Jayce wakes up warm and comfortable, on his belly on a soft mattress, cocooned by soft, fur blankets. They’re on the outskirts of Ixtal, a secluded cabin deep in a rainforest seeped in magic, and Jayce can tell from the cool breeze wafting in from the ajar window that it had rained earlier, chasing away the oppressive humidity.
“Jayce,” a voice says, half Viktor’s pitched low, half that darkly familiar robotic burr.
“Mm, today a Herald day?” he mumbles into his pillow, shivering when he feels the cool metal of the third claw trace between his shoulder blades.
Sometimes Viktor wakes up in Herald form. Today, Jayce gets to enjoy it.
