“Are you joking? Some of the knights here spend half of their shift sleeping.” Merlin didn’t really want to get into the details of how she knew that.

“I’ll make a bet with you,” Merlin paused, waiting for Arthur to calm down, “-if I can prove that half of your knights are absolutely worthless, you will give Lancelot a chance.”

Wednesday heard a lot of talk about soulmates from a young age, first from her parents and then later from kids at school.
She had first realized something was wrong when she was about 6. She started feeling pangs of emotion in her chest that she knew weren't coming from herself. After what had happened with Nero and her newfound awareness of the uselessness of grief, she had absolutely no patience for this.
As time went on and she grew older, she did her best to simply ignore and repress any feelings that might ever make their way to her from her soulmate. It seemed to do the trick of preventing their bond from growing stronger. The other kids at school would make fools of themselves by concentrating on their bond in hopes that it would grow stronger until the day came that they could enter the database, which, of course, Wednesday would never do.
The older she got, the more her parents would harass her over two things: the database, and Nevermore. Incidentally, they were two things she had sworn off entirely.
Little did she know that once her parents got their way in regards to Nevermore, they would in regards to her soulmate as well.
