Summary
Castiel is a recent hire at an animal adoption center, where there are cute cats, dogs, guinea pigs... and invisible critters called loopers, which have weird dietary needs. Then, shelter volunteer Dean shows up to help feed them, and suddenly Cas learns a lot more about both loopers and himself.

Cas has never understood why people liked loopers, anyway. Cats are soft and cute, and the shelter cycles through them at a good pace. Dogs are enthusiastically loving, although loud, and their playfulness is always a hit with families. Sure, loopers can be great service animals, and most kids weirdly like them, but what’s the appeal in a pet that is neither fluffy nor adorable? Invisible animals have to lose the novelty sooner or later; not to even mention the tentacles. (Cas squirms his shoulders uncomfortably.) Plus, feeding them is bizarre. The artificial pheromones have gotten a lot better at fulfilling the looper’s nutritional needs over the last decade or so, but still. Feeding a pet via gas chamber is never going to seem normal to Cas.

You will suffer no marks, no blood loss, no lasting injuries. You will simply be tickled until you decide you don’t want to be anymore and I am given what I need.”
The worst part of any torture is knowing that the threats are absolutely true. Sam is three states away on another hunt. Dean’s phone was the first thing that had been lost in the scramble at the beginning of all this. Nobody is going to stumble across this place by accident. There is no help to be had. The methodical nature of his imminent demise is being telegraphed in every persistent stroke of fingers. Castiel is a ruthless tickling machine, and he’s going to slowly dismantle Dean, bit by sensitive bit.

He was dimly aware of the distressed shouts as Sam and Dean tried to figure out how to fight off something they couldn’t see. Castiel was more concerned about the immediacy with which the monster was shoving him back flat on the floor and surging up onto his chest.
It was heavy. That was about the only thing he could tell for sure. It also had limbs – a surprising number of them, flexible like snakes that writhed against him as it battled for dominance. At this point, Castiel had no reason to believe that the creature was comprised of anything but limbs. Appendages, more accurately. Tentacles, perhaps most accurately.
Oh. So that’s what they were dealing with.

“I’ll do it just like this,” Dean purred just above his shoulders, the easy pace keeping steady. “Slow and careful, all over those ticklish spots underneath, right where you’re most sensitive… Make you giggle and moan that way you do, when you can’t tell me whether you want it to stop or want more.” Dean’s voice dripped with enticement. “I know you love it, and I want to get my hands in those gorgeous feathers of yours, so why wait?”
