It’s the night before Jaskier’s birthday when he gets drunk and mentions it in front of Geralt and Yennefer. He doesn’t mean to, of course, but, you know, he’s four cups in, feeling a bit sorry for himself, and he doesn’t even realize they’re there. He’s trying to wax poetic to the bartender, which is what one does when they feel this way, and possibly chat up the lovely blonde woman next to him. She makes a comment about helping him celebrate when both she and the bartender make themselves scarce.

It's another year of helpless pining and Jaskier just wants to forget about it all and enjoy his birthday. But, of course, that's not going to happen.

Geralt stumbles upon the old, abandoned altar right beside the cliff’s edge. He’s just killed a basilisk and destroyed its eggs and nest when his medallion starts humming, heats up, alerting him to magic swirling in the air. He’s on guard, always, and, with steel sword drawn, he creeps closer.

Geralt picks up a magic item. He spends an inordinate amount of time time panicking because nice things start happening to him.
Of course, he realizes not everything is about him. But it all works out in the end.

Summary
Geralt’s watching that baking program when he hears shouting from Jaskier’s apartment. He crinkles his brow and glances at the clock on the wall. 8:15. Jaskier keeps unusual hours and it’s not like Geralt’s judging, but at this time, Jaskier’s either already out of the building or asleep. Or at least, that’s what he suspects. Nevertheless, there is never any sound coming out of that apartment regardless of whether Jaskier’s there or not.

Jaskier has car trouble. Geralt drives him to work. Ciri makes an appearance. Conversations are had. Feelings are kind of discussed.

Bob’s jaw tightens. “Don’t call me that.”
John doesn’t apologize, just shrugs under him. “Hit me then.”
Bob hesitates again. Then he pulls his arm back—still straddling John—and goes for it. A clean punch, not fast, but committed.
John is lonely and somewhat depressed, but so is Bob. Somewhere along the line, they get used to each other’s silences, odd as they find it.
