“And everyone is so old,” Tubbo complains. Somehow, without them knowing about it, Tubbo’s managed to swipe a waffle and is chewing on it happily. Sapnap stifles a laugh. “Well, not everyone, I guess- the kid in our room is our age, I think. He might be younger.”
Wilbur perks up. “Does he ice skate?”
“Yeah, he does. He’s got these sick skates and everything.” Tubbo explains. “He’s quiet though. We tried talking to him, but…”
“But?”
Tubbo shrugs. "He's quiet. He doesn't talk much. I guess he's busy."
or, Tommy's made it to the Olympics for figure skating- he's the youngest contestant on the ice and he's the favor for the gold. He's supposed to be living the dream. So why is he still so unhappy? And why do all these hockey players and snowboarders care so much about him?

And now, Techno’s wearing Dream’s merch, and he refuses to read into it. If he does, he’ll start to convince himself of something that isn’t there, and then he’ll get his heart broken when everything eventually comes to fruition and Techno rejects him and he has to flee the country to save himself from dying of embarrassment. Sapnap might berate him constantly for “lacking self-preservation skills,” but Dream would really rather save himself from heartbreak in this scenario.
So, he will let this go. He will live with the information that Techno owns his merch, but he will not look into it. He will not think about Techno’s reasoning for buying such a thing, and he will not think about how Techno’s never mentioned owning Wilbur or Phil’s merch. He will not think about his rival wearing his signature smile, and he will not let it go to his heart, which would rapidly beat and convince him that it means something.
… And he will fail spectacularly at all of this.

This relationship with Wilbur, the way Tommy’s heart jumps when he walks in– definitely not healthy. But Tommy’s not very well-versed in healthy relationships. He knows what they should be, yes– a take and a give, but Tommy is a taker and he’s used to that. A burden for those who can’t handle it.
(or, my take on the "Dark SBI" trend i've seen going around, except.... well. SBI aren't really the smooth manipulators they want to be. Tommy, on the other hand-)

Or, Techno, Wilbur, and Tommy are basically chaotic forces of nature, destined from birth to end the world and bring destruction. Most who hear of the tale of them are trying their best to track them down, and to end the monsters while they’re still young, still just children.
Phil has a different plan.
(In which Phil raises the minecraft equivalents of the anti-christ with love and support, so much so to the point where the world ending is really just a funny thought, and Phil has three kids who casually have powers that are bit more extreme than anything else in the world)

In the long list of rules that Dream gave him, there were four that stuck out as the most important. Four rules that he could never break.
Stick close to the island when swimming. Always be back before seven. Never complain or hesitate to give Dream his pelt. And never, ever interact with humans.
Tommy didn’t break any of those rules often, and if he did it was a one time thing, a mistake. But this wasn’t a mistake. This was a very deliberate, very stupid move on his part and Dream would kill him if he knew what Tommy was doing. Fifteen years Tommy had lived here, and never once had he intentionally broken one of Dream’s rules. Until now.
He swims closer to the three humans.
