Zhongli’s eyes glowed in the poor lighting of the kitchen.
‘Fear.’
‘I’m not scared of anything.’
‘Except yourself, apparently. You fear what you will find once you begin to dig. How extensive the damage is, how much you have denied yourself. Come on, Tartaglia. It will catch up with you eventually. Never let it find you undefended.’

Summary
Childe never struggled to keep the urges of the abyss at bay. Other than his bloodlust and near constant urge for battle, it was never a problem to just lock the needs away.
That changed after he found out that Zhongli was Morax, the very archon he had to steal the gnosis from. The abyss latches onto him like a leech and he learns the consequences of ignoring his feelings.
