if i knew nothing about resident evil 6 or what the plot was, you could hand me this fic and i'd believe this was the game formatted into a novel to be read. the characterization is wonderful, i adore claire getting more spotlight as she deserves, and this was a wonderful read from start to finish.

whenever i get into that longing yearning mood for the years where i thought about how two queer girls living in arcadia bay gave me such hope and joy for the future, this is always one of the first fics that i come back to read to settle into those feelings. this is probably my favourite post-game fic out there and i'm so grateful that the OP decided to share it with us.

Dimitri makes an affirmative noise. Then he takes a breath, voice leveling out into what Felix had long ago dubbed his 'future king voice', all steady explanation: “Long ago, the saying fledged right along with the nobles' and royal family's love of hawking, and it has remained a common phrase from one generation to the next. As adviser to the king, the duke is meant to be regal and strong, even deadly when required, from his place at the king's side. To always act as the most piercing, watchful eyes over the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus and her sovereign."
He looks over to Felix as soon as his mouth snaps shut on the final word, as always seeking approval on his recitations.
Felix tilts his head, trying to look unimpressed. “I like eagles.”
A hand automatically comes up to cover the lower half of Dimitri's face, muffling the inarticulate sound of a snort of amusement. “That is good, since you are to be mine.”
They say an eagle watches over Fhirdiad.

one of the more iconic and favourite fics of dmlx that is so wonderful to read, that is an honest deep dive into the mental situations of dimitri and felix (especially felix) with beautiful prose and the flashbacks are so (chef kiss) that i cannot help but recommend this fic to my friends.
+ the king and his north star lives forever rent-free in my brain.

Felix agrees to drive Dimitri home to Fhirdiad for his uncle Rufus' funeral. On the way, they're targeted by assassins and forced to go on the run with no money, a stolen car, and a lifetime of unspoken feelings between them. Desperate to return to Fhirdiad and expose the real villain behind a host of atrocities against Dimitri and Felix's family, they'll take refuge in weird roadside attractions ranging from themed hotel suites, strange museums with possibly haunted toys, bars that are clearly fronts for the mob and a carnival that always seems to show up right when they need it.
