Summary
Mac and Charlie take magic mushrooms and trip together.

"Don't soul mates have to be in love?"
"Maybe we are," Charlie hums in thought. Slowly, he pushes himself up to sit, crossing his legs in front of Mac. "What if we are?"
Charlie's face feels like sunlight to look at. He's replenishing Mac's vitamin D just being near him, enough of a presence to make the whole city feel sunny, all the time. "I think we might be," Mac replies. He wants to be sun burnt by this man. He wants to stay in his light for too long and turn a tremendous shade of commercially Valentine's Day shade of red, to match the ceiling or the sky or the amorphous cluster of clouds.

Summary
Charlie sinks down on the bed until Mac is bending at a painful angle to reach him still. He almost flinches when Mac pulls away, followed by the icy stab of fear that, once it's over, Mac will come to his senses and realize what they're doing and hate Charlie for it.
Mac takes a moment, carefully opening his eyes like delicate sheets over a window. He reaches out to cup the side of Charlie's face in one of his hands before he whispers, "What'd you do that for?"
Charlie gulps, reaching up to stroke his thumb across Mac's jaw. He shrugs. "I dunno. Just wanted to."
"...You…just wanted to?"
"Yeah," Charlie affirms, nodding. "Just wanted to."

"Why don't we just... go?"
Charlie blinks in confusion, squinting across at Mac. He's a bit too stoned to process that for a moment, cocking his head. "Huh? Go? Go where, dude?"
"Anywhere," Mac shrugs. "We could just go, there's nothing stopping us. We could get in a car and drive and escape this empty bullshit and just... go. Together."
For a moment, Charlie doesn't know how to respond, his mouth open like a goldfish in slow motion.
"Like we used to say we would, remember? When we were teenagers. We'd always go on about getting in a car, one day when you can leave Philly, and just going somewhere. And now you can. So, why don't we?"
"We're not teenagers anymore."
"I know," Mac implores. "Doesn't it suck?"
