Kar'niss stood unmoving, eyes fixed on you once more. His irises were shimmering like liquid gold in the light of the lantern – the lantern!
Voice drowned out by the rage of the battle, you gathered all your courage and moved towards the drider, obscured by the shield. Kar'niss was muttering to himself, "...betrayed, but saved? What does it mean…?"
"Drop the lantern," you hissed, "and run! If you want to make it out of here alive this is your only chance!"
Unmoving, the drider stared at you. Then, Kar'niss clawed hand released the lantern and he fled into the shadows.
