Summary

this is very good! I think I generally prefer the first two installments although they are all very good. but like the specific way kid Dick is characterized, his fear, love, anger, and hope are all such a treat to read. like he desperately loves Bruce but it largely unable to feel that love without also feeling fear. fear that Bruce does not love him, will think less of him, will abandon him. last two are mostly Dick and Jason based and they’re interactions are very good.

Food is complicated for Dean. Although, it’s not food as much as it is hunger. He can appreciate a good hamburger for just being a hamburger, but starvation he has a more complicated relationship with. The feeling should be something that’s easier to condemn than it is, but it’s intermingled with nostalgia and memories of his father and the feeling of doing good by Sam. He loves food, but he misses missing it sometimes.

omg. omg. omg. I like. This is so good. It nails a lot of the things I like to see in fics about dean. Hunger is such an interesting thing to me. how does hunger intersect with desire? how does it intersect with the ways in which we regard ourselves as living beings? I don’t know.
