And. Oh. Oh fuck no. It’s one thing for Lance to have lied about his non-existent romantic relationship with Keith, which was a mess he was going to have to clean up somehow, but quite another to fake said relationship in front of Hunk and Allura, both incredibly perceptive. Lance had only lied because he didn’t think he’d actually have to pretend to be dating Keith, because he’d figured he’d make up some bullshit excuse later, like they broke up or something, and no one would be the wiser. But this? This complicates things.
Or,
Lance just wants to be a good friend, but that apparently includes having to pretend to date Keith, and let's just say, things kinda spiral from there.

“Well, we are sneaking out,” Lance says, “and we’re lying about where you’re gonna be the next few hours. If we really wanted to be accurate I’d have thrown pebbles at your window and you’d have climbed down a tree.” He’s walking a little ahead of Keith, so he glances back at him, frowning. “If Kolivan’s in charge of the base, does this make him your dad in this scenario?”
“I think he’s too old for that,” Keith says. They round a corner, tiptoe down another hallway. “Maybe he’s the grandpa.”
In which Keith finds time in the midst of defending the universe to live out some of the tropes of a corny teenage romance.

Summary
It’s the kind of party Jonas actually finds himself enjoying, and not in that five-more-beers-and-I’ll-be-having-fun kind of way. It’s the perfect mix of both his friends and people he only really knows from other parties- thirty or so of them spilling out between the living room and kitchen and garden, drinking and socialising and enjoying the summer, together.
Jonas spaces out at a party and finds himself in the unlikely company of the last person he punched. Even more shocking is how much he enjoys it.

Keith blinks.
“That is—” Lance clears his throat, shifting his weight uncomfortably. His hands are still in his pockets, his shoulders still hunched. “I like you—I like-like you. Like, in a more-than-friends-way like you.”
For a long moment Keith can only stare at him, astonishment and disbelief and cautious delight warring for dominance. And then, because he’s an idiot, because he spent a whole goddamn year in a goddamn shack in the middle of the goddamn desert and has no idea how to be a socially competent person, because he’s Keith, he says, “That was a lot of the word ‘like’ in one sentence.”
