Big-city programmer Sebastian is home for Winter Star, and Pelican Town has changed since he left. Abby is married. Sam’s band has an obnoxiously friendly new keyboardist. Maru is clearly keeping a big secret from their parents, not that he cares.
In an effort to avoid hanging out with a family he doesn't mesh with and a friend group he no longer feels secure in, he proposes an arrangement with Ava (local farmer, town hero, and overcommitted disaster): He'll help out on the farm to avoid his social commitments, and she'll get an extra hand with her overwhelming list of holiday tasks. Buckle up for a Hallmark-inspired Stardew fic, complete with accidental fake dating, holiday angst, and plenty of humor and fluff!

Summary
A few weeks before the Flower Dance, the farmer contracts a mild case of hanahaki in the mines. The cure is straightforward: Painkillers, as needed, and an honest heart-to-heart chat with Sebastian about the big embarrassing crush she's been trying to ignore for several months now. But the idea of losing his friendship is way scarier than pneumonia is, so she decides to try getting over it on her own with secondhand talk therapy and avoidance, instead.
This is a great idea. Nothing can possibly go wrong.

“Have you taken care of them?” Gladiolus asks in his earpiece.
“Uh, yeah, they’re in there,” Sebastian replies, reaching behind his chair and groping blindly for his backpack. “Good and stuck. Super trapped. Yes. Just, uh, give me a second…”
He yanks open his backback with shaking hands and digs frantically for his earbuds. He finds them, then spends a few precious moments struggling to untangle the knots in the cord before giving up, plugging them into the headphone jack on his laptop, and tapping into the audio channel.
“—don’t know who you are or how you did this but if you don’t let us out this instant I will hunt you down and set you on literal fire—”
Yup, that’s her, he thinks, and then leans back in his chair and groans, burying his head in his hands, because of all of the (many, many) ways he could have met his celebrity crush, trapping her in a hallway because she’s interrupting an opposing hero team’s heist is… Well. It’s not the absolute worst-case scenario, but it’s pretty close.

Or: Sebastian goes on his first superhero mission as a hacker, and nothing goes according to plan.

Summary
Ava is all burned out, literally— she’s an exhausted JojaCo employee by daylight, and pyrokinetic superhero The Phoenix by moonlight, until she accidentally starts a fire at work and has to blame it on her superpowered alter-ego to avoid being discovered. The Phoenix is forced into early retirement, and with nothing else to lose, Ava moves to her grandfather’s old farm for a new start. Between restoring the farm, resolutely bottling all of her feelings, and trying to keep her powers under wraps, Ava has a lot on her plate. She’ll figure it out. Eventually. She hopes.
Meanwhile, the hacker Memento, Phoenix’s good friend and confidant, is left to pick up the pieces alone after her sudden disappearance. He’s fully convinced that she didn’t start the fire, and he’s determined to discover the truth and clear her name... As long as he doesn’t fall for the pretty new farmer down the road, first.
Part superhero AU, part mental health recovery arc, and part rom-com, topped with a generous serving of secret identity love square shenanigans, hurt/comfort, shameless flirting and banter, and dramatic irony. Updates weekly(-ish).

Much Ado 1960s AU set in the USAmerican South. Ongoing. I love the writing style (the settings, characterizations, and character descriptions in particular are marvelously done, and I love how the characters are translated into a modern AU).
