look. i don't even go here. i know truly jack and shit about Star Trek, in any iteration. but i know people, and that's all you really need to know in order to appreciate what the author's doing here. a wonderfully thoughtful look at these two characters and how they slowly but surely come together, because and in spite of themselves.

Summary
When she sees her next, she wants to push her against a wall with her forearm pressed to her throat. She wants to hear the gasp Eve makes when she finds her breath again.
When she sees her next, she wants Eve to beg her for this. She wants to be wanted beyond sanity. She wants to know in all this time, while she was imprisoned in some godforsaken Alpine compound, detached from the rest of the world, Eve was waiting, wanting, miserable at the thought that she might have killed the one thing that could get her off anymore.
Hardly romantic.

But the meaning is really that clear, sitting right on the surface: whatever Eve would like to do, Villanelle is more than happy to oblige. If Eve wants to tie them together forever, Villanelle will get the needle and sew the stitches in their flesh. If Eve wants her heart, she’ll offer scalpel or soul-bonding metaphors. If she wants a shower, she can have a lovely shower, Villanelle will hand crank the pump herself if necessary, or walk from canal to Eve, over and over, a bucket of water to pour over her skin.
i don't have huge issues with how season 2 went—not yet, at least, not after watching it once—but this is a fantastic imagining of how it could have gone. i think it's going to take the show a long time to get to the heart of Villanelle, Eve, and the two of them together like this fic has done, if it ever gets there at all. between that and how unexpectedly enamored i was of Mother, and not to mention the plot...i was left with the feeling of "okay, but what happened next?" all throughout it, the same feeling that made me sit and watch a season and a half in the span of a day. it's a fucking masterclass in pacing and tone, in constructing a story that lures you in and doesn't let you go until the very end.
i don't know what else to say besides this fic wrenched me around in the best possible way. even if you don't know much about Killing Eve's story, you'll be able to enjoy this fic.

Summary
Recaptured by Overwatch, Widowmaker is sent on a mission to assassinate a high-ranking Talon agent in London. It should be an easy mission – get in, take the shot, and leave. But when Tracer’s your getaway pilot a lot of things can go wrong, and things like 'subtlety' and 'discretion' tend to be the first casualties. Now, lying low after the mission goes awry, the pair of them have to survive in the city until Overwatch can get them home.

Bookmarker's Notes
i love a lot of things about this fic, but i think what most grabbed me about it, and what i still remember most vividly about it to this day, is the plot and pacing. it's one of the best-paced stories i've read, and the action sequences are top notch: compelling, always moving forward and keeping you on your toes and the edge of your seat, but with moments for the characters (and us) to breathe and bond, which in turn feeds into the driving action of the story.
yes, it does a fantastic job of fleshing out both Tracer and Widowmaker as characters (some of the takes on Widowmaker and her relationship/lack thereof to her past life as Amélie are now basically canon for me); yes, it's wonderful to watch their relationship develop to where it is by the end of the fic, and that development feels very natural and, more importantly, character-driven; yes, it threads in some interesting lore ideas that the sequel will be able to jump off of. but whenever i think of this fic, i always first think of the plot and the action scenes, and how excited/surprised/tense/elated i was at each turn.
absolutely wonderful read, and one i'd recommend to even people who don't know a blessed thing about Overwatch or its colorful cast of characters.

Summary
Lucretia has been having dreams about Taako.
The dreams are never quite the same, but they’re the same in all the ways that matter. In them, he comes to her. His arms are open.
He says, “You’re still dreaming about this?”
He says, “I’d forgotten all about it.”
He says, “I forgive you, you know. It meant nothing to me.”

Bookmarker's Notes
this is the coda that Lucretia's arc in TAZ has always deserved. period.
beyond that, it's a wonderful look at a number of different, difficult things that happen with relationships, and, more importantly, it resists the urge to brush them off or tie everything up with a neat bow on top. i think one of the most difficult things to do when writing is to avoid the pitfall of everything working out just fine, to find a way to both tell a satisfying story and to have things be uncomfortable or complicated or unresolved. this fic goes there, does that, and that, to me, is why it's what i've been wanting since i first listened to TAZ's finale. it respects the complexity of Lucretia and her decisions, and it's honest in its reckoning of the consequences of them, and all of that, together, is what makes this piece such a gem.
i had the privilege of seeing this fic go from bits and pieces to what it is here, and i'm so happy that everyone gets to experience it now.

i come back to this series every time i wander back into the Agent Carter fandom. Angie is fantastically written here and still maintains that charm that makes her one of my favorite characters in the entire Marvel universe, and besides, i live for fics that teach me about things. (all the mechanical info is great!) better yet, the relationship between her and Peggy is given the time and space it needs to breathe, grow, and flourish in a way i'm very fond of.

Summary
Angela was quiet for a minute, looking away from Moira and towards the night sky, pensive. “I think you’re just… a bit much for some people.” A truth that had always seemed to hold—always too much of one thing, the wrong thing, and not enough of another. “So, what? It’s their loss.”

i really like the exploration of Moira as a character here, especially re: some of the gender- and sexuality-based overtones. she reads butch here, which i appreciate. i'm also a fan of this take on her relationship with Angela and the various dimensions it takes on over the course of time. the structure is interesting as well, especially with how it's used to...build tension, almost. you know what's coming but you're watching the train speed along anyways. one of my all time favorites in the Moira/Angela tag.

Bookmarker's Notes
i haven't actually watched The Closer in at least five years. what i watched of it was split up across reruns—out of order and difficult to follow. but i do remember Chief Johnson and Captain Raydor, and i remember thinking how i liked the two of them and especially liked seeing them together, even with the obvious issues between the two of them. this fic made me like them a whole lot more. it's playing a longer game with the two of them, but that makes the payoff so much sweeter (and at one point so legitimately unexpected that i had to stop for a few minutes to process it). a lovely story of two women falling in love, despite/because of their circumstances, with some twists and turns along the way. worth staying up until 4 AM to read start to finish.

this is one of my favorite stories ever. not one of my favorite fics, not one of my favorite fan works—one of my favorite stories, period. when i first read it i stayed up for almost a day straight because i couldn't. put. it. down. i've reread it in pieces and in whole several times since. the pacing...the character development...the fantastic crafting of everything from the passing conversations to the sex scenes...hell, the main plot point is one topic that's normally a hard no when it comes to selling me on a story, but this? by the time i found out what the next chapters were going to be about, i was already too sucked in to even consider stopping. them's good readings.

i was hooked on this from the very first part in the series. deals with some heavy topics very well (mental health is VERY much a big part of this, so cw for a lot of depression/PTSD related stuff) and does a home run job of developing a relationship between Sara and Catherine from the ground up in such a way that you can't help rooting for them. overall a beautiful fic.

i read this back sometime around 2009 or 2010, when it was first posted, and was obsessed with it for a lot of reasons, but the main one—and what i remember best about the fic years and years down the line—is the narrative device that makes up the ending, and the writing that introduces it. i'm still looking to borrow it for one of my stories...maybe someday i'll be able to work it in and do it justice.

I'm a big fan of "snapshot" style fics, and this one works in the genre very well. Telanu is far and away one of the best writers I've seen not only in the DWP fandom, but period—I highly recommend checking out their other work. I've read through more or less their entire catalog of DWP fics posted up here and I still can't get enough.

What I love about Skyrim is that it's a setting where you could write a thousand different smaller stories that have little to nothing to do with the main plot, or the main character. There are a ton of jumping off points to work with given the vastness of the world, and I think this story is an excellent example of that.

I come back to this fic once about every six months, and every time I get to this line I just...I fall in love with it all over again. An absolutely wonderful take on what happens to poor ol' Chell post-series.
