Curufin wrapped his arms carefully around his son, as if the slightest pressure would break him. Tyelpë held no such concerns, and clung to Curufin tightly, as if he would disappear at any given moment. The sobs that wracked his chest tore at Curufin's heart, and no matter the ill-will they had spit at one another so long ago when they parted, he would always love his son vehemently.
"Oh, yónya," he whispered into Tyelpë's hair, rubbing gentle circles on his back. "Oh, my boy... Shh, I am here. No tears, it's alright. You are safe. You are loved. I love you."

Kanafinwë sat ever by the seaside, staring out into the distant West open-mouthed and teary-cheeked. His once enviously beautiful hair had since become matted with sand and dirt, the healthy glow of his skin now a ghostly pallor. The skilled hands that used to so elegantly play whatever instrument placed in his grasp, now permanently scarred and forever oozing with blood, regret, and shame, never to heal.

Summary
After multiple millennia and much healing in the Halls of Mandos, Maitimo was ready to be reborn and finally live in peace with his family and his beloved husband. However, when the Valar announce that they will be giving one of them a chance to go back and help take down Sauron once and for all, he offers himself for the quest. Not only does he have the highest chances of not being recognised -now that he has the right hröa, that is- but he has a younger brother to find and drag back home to their family, as well as a son to apologise to.
Sauron never really stood a chance.
