Summary
Clark’s mouth hangs open and a thread of spit slips to the floor. “Please,” he says again, a whisper, like he’s talking to her in a dream.
(An alternate universe where Lois gets caught instead of rescuing Clark. They both die in the end.)

“Because the Near Side of the Moon is under an illusion. Only its inhabitants, the Leirans, and those who know Wish can perceive its true beauty.”
“Do you know how to cast it?” asked Giliath.
Gale gave him an incredulous look. “It’s a powerful spell.”(Or, a pregnant Gale and his trusty paladin husband decide to temporarily relocate to the Moon, because that is a thing I decided they can do).

Summary
One morning, after hopping off the subway and running into Jimmy, she spots Clark across the street, coming out of a donut shop. He’s stumbling through the crowd like he’s afraid he’ll accidentally crush someone. His messenger bag hangs loosely off his shoulder, threatening to fall off at any given second. He's got three big boxes of donuts stacked in his arms, and, of course, a giant donut dangling from his mouth.
“Look at this guy,” she says, elbowing Jimmy. “What does he think he’s doing?”
Across the street, Clark finally catches sight of them. He plucks the donut from his mouth and waves with it in his hand, flashing a big, dumb, goofy grin. Dimples and everything.
----
Clark is seen with three dozen donuts... but shows up to work with two. Did he give them away or eat them all? And why does Lois seem to care about that ray of sunshine's donut habits? Sometimes she feels like she's one more social faux pas away from making the poor guy break into tears.

Summary
When the operation is done, they shut Superman up in a small, white recovery room at the far end of the surgical ward and close the blinds. It's dark outside, but they shut the blinds anyway. And they keep them closed all throughout the next morning and into the afternoon as they slowly withdraw sedatives. The sun starts its setting. A nurse cracks the slats and takes vitals while a thin beam of light slips in and wanders up onto the bed. Jimmy is on the roof chewing nicotine and scrolling through news feeds when this occurs; and so witnesses none of what immediately follows. The jolt of warmth and light. Pain. The groggy terror of waking up to the prodding of strange hands. The nurse says, “sir, please-!” and Superman stares up at her without comprehension. He can’t remember what had happened, except that something had happened to him. Someone or something had made him bleed.
