Will's grip on the sheets is grounding enough to move him closer to wakefulness. He edges close enough to become aware that the water is talking to him again, warm in his ear, licking at his throat. It’s true French and not the Cajun French he distantly remembers from childhood, but it’s close enough or the dream generous enough for him to understand. Will, again. Will, come back. Be here with me.
Or: The one in which I've owned WrathoftheStag a little something based loosely on Will's inappropriately sexy drowning dreams for ages, and what better time than her birthday to provide it? Even if it didn't get done quite in time for her actual birthday.

Summary
Perhaps what is called for is nothing so simple and clean as separation or joining. It will have to be a field amputation, of sorts. Fast and brutal, and neither of them entirely whole afterwards. But, perhaps, survivable. He will have his dogs and some shredded version of his life back. Maybe he’ll move somewhere warm, and leave no forwarding address. Maybe Abigail will stay in her grave instead of following him. Hannibal will have music and art and blood, freedom somewhere far away. If Will makes the cut clean enough, Hannibal may keep his distance. People have built new lives on less, surely.
Or: A little Digestivo fix-it fic because sometimes you just want your beloved characters to USE their WORDS and avoid several more years of pain.

Summary
The physicality of it is secondary to how it rattles him internally, makes him feel wound up and unstrung all at once. He doesn’t know how he’ll catch his breath, how he’ll ever breathe again. He doesn’t black out, and he doesn’t quite fall asleep, but he does feel not all there. The closest thing he can compare it to is the quiet drugged up peace he would awaken to when they were in their recovery right after the fall- before the pain set in and all Will knew was that he was alive, and that he was with Hannibal, and nothing else mattered at all.

Post-fall, Will and Hannibal explore Will's newly unearthed desire for sexual submission.

Summary
He looks at Hannibal and sees what he sees: himself glowing where he stands, blood-red and divine- a vengeful god of death. Protecting what's his.
Hannibal steps toward him, and Will sees what's coming next, too. He drops the knife and catches Hannibal's face in his bloodied hands as he presses in to kiss him. The touch of his lips is searing hot against the blood cooling on Will’s skin, and so are his hands grasping at Will's waist.
"Nothing," he whispers, kissing Will again intently before he continues, smearing blood between their mouths, "nothing is so moving as watching you act on your glorious wrath."
A trespasser makes the mistake of attempting to blackmail Will and Hannibal, which is the last decision he makes. Hannibal shows Will just how pleased he is by his savage protectiveness. Pure filth written for Bottom Hannibal Day!

Sharp stag shadows blossom on one forking tunnel wall; in the other entrance Hannibal stands, waiting, hands clasped and eyes wary in the dim light. He doesn’t look the slightest bit out of place posed in this chamber, guarded by skeletons like a pharaoh or a god.
