Summary
Eddie pulls him out of his head with a mumble. Buck looks to his side and sees Eddie sitting stiffly, looking straight ahead at the road in front of them.
“Hmm?” Buck says automatically. “What’dya say?”
“There’s something I’ve been meaning to tell you,” Eddie says.
“Oh,” Buck says, surprised. “There is?”
Eddie looks like he’s going to throw up and just when Buck is about to let his hand graze Eddie’s knee in comfort, two consequential words come out of him:
“I’m gay.”
He doesn’t see the tree coming. They are in a desert, why is there a tree there? He’s sure it wasn’t there a moment ago. Nevertheless, the car magically swerves away from the road and into the dirt, and BANG, tree.

OR: Due to an unfortunate and unavoidable accident, Buck and Eddie are stranded at a motel.

Summary
A loud knock on the door almost makes Eddie jump out of his skin. Chris chuckles. “Is that him now?”
Eddie looks towards the door, which unfortunately is not see-through. “No, we’re supposed to meet there, not here.”
The person on the other side of the door knocks again. Eddie lets Chris get back to his gaming and tentatively goes to see who’s knocking at this time of night.
He opens the door, and Buck immediately shuffles inside.
“I need your help.”
“Now really isn’t a good time,” Eddie says, but he still closes the door and follows Buck into the living room.
“I can’t decide between blue and black,” he says. He turns around swiftly and Eddie almost walks directly into his broad chest. “Wait, why is now not a good time?”

OR, Eddie is getting ready to go on his first (blind) date with a man, and he is NOT panicking. Until Buck shows up randomly asking for advice about his own blind date.

There’s a look in Eddie’s eyes now, one that Buck hadn’t quite seen before this trip. Or had he? Did it just not mean to him then what he realizes, or thinks, it means now? Regardless, it confirms a thought that has been niggling at the back of his mind all night.

The man’s other hand strokes up and down Eddie’s thigh, steadying him like he’s a skittish, cornered animal. Christ—he’s more than cornered. He’s pinned in place, displayed like a butterfly under glass.
Eddie’s left foot twitches, tugging testily at the leather restraint that’s holding it in place. There’s a little give, but not much. Even if he wanted to, there’s no way he’d be able to get enough leverage to pull himself free if he tried.
