Summary
one night, Stan gets a call from Ford threatening to kill himself. Out of concern, Stan drives up to Gravity Falls to check on his brother only to find the situation more dire than he thought it would be.
AU where the time between when Fiddleford left and Stan showed up to take the journal was about a year and Ford was alone with Bill that whole time and is significantly more unstable
(stand alone and is not really connected to the other fics in this series outside of vibes)

Summary
Ford sighs again, this time more tired than frustrated. “How about New York, then?”
A pit opens up in Stan’s stomach. He doesn’t want to go to New York either. He doesn’t say anything, and Ford groans.
“Stanley,” he presses. “We need to stop somewhere.”
Stan tries to find a reason, even if just for himself, that he doesn’t want to go. He had good memories there, for the most part. She was young, in her prime, going to bars every night and sleeping with whoever she wanted. She was happy.
Finally, he shrugs. “Yeah. Do what you gotta do.”

Summary
Ford is back after Stan activated the portal, and they’re both settling as well as they can. Which is, unsurprisingly, not well at all. When Ford tells Stan that he needs to be out of his house at the end of summer, Stan…doesn’t take it very well.
Emotions run high, traumas resurface, and Ford realizes just how much Stan has gone through since they were eighteen. It’s not pretty.
(AKA a rewrite of the ending from ‘A Tale of Two Stans’ with a significantly angstier, yet somehow far more hopeful confrontation.)
