"I felt the bullet rip through my chest, forcing all air out of my lungs. Eyes widening, I struggled for a moment, gasping and wheezing before giving in to the growing dizziness, sinking to my knees, collapsing on the floor. But the dizziness and nausea weren’t the worst part, neither was the feeling of suffocating, with the bullet ripping a hole in one half of my lungs.

Summary
Iron Man saves a hurt Spider-Man, who decides to run away from a now very annoyed Tony Stark.
A few weeks later, Tony comes across Peter, a genius fifteen year old who always looks hungry and wears tattered clothing. To Peter's shock (and dismay), Tony decides to take him under his wing as his intern.
Meanwhile, Iron Man is trying to figure out who this spider-dude that is refusing to accept his help.
Set after the Civil War. Enhanced individuals are hated and feared. (Aka people hate spider-man.) Tony and Peter have never met.

The world will keep spinning. The loss of peter parker will make no difference. Perhaps ned will grieve and mj will lose her best candidate for acdc, but they'll get over it and they'll carry on.
Spider-man will be a greater loss. The protector of queens lost to the waves of the unknown. There will be a new vigilante, and they'll carry on.
The world will keep spinning. With or without peter parker in it.
