Junah’s attention snapped to him with wide eyes that relaxed almost instantly. “Basilio! You startled me.”
“Well, you nearly gave me a bloody heart attack,” he said, taking a seat next to her and mirroring her pose. “Thought you were ‘bout to do somethin’ drastic.”
She winced. “I’m sorry. I hadn’t meant to wake anyone, or make you worry. I just…needed some air. Can’t seem to fall asleep.”
“‘S alright. Me neither.” Understatement of the century, that, he thought, but he had a feeling her reasons weren’t unlike his own.
