“I wish for you to not intervene with the life of my daughter, Lady Athena.” he says, instead of everything else he wants to, and keeps his eyes trained on the stretch of the dark horizon before them. His thin tunic does little to keep the cold air from seeping into his bones, but he stands still nonetheless. “You’ve helped Telemachus in my absence, and for that I owe you a debt I can never repay. But I am here, now,”, he slowly raises his eyes to meet her gaze, her eyes like a black-storm looming over his kingdom as she listens. “I feel I can raise her myself well enough.”
Athena doesn’t look away from him, but she takes a moment to reply, something he can’t imagine himself getting used to after all those years of her swift counsel, of her sharp words, always in his ear, always in some corner of his mind.
