Summary
Childe is critically injured while trying to protect 'bystander' Zhongli during the Osial battle and he, unwilling to let the other man die in his arms, makes the snap decision to turn the battle hungry Snezhnayan into an Adeptus.
Which isn’t so bad and couldn’t possibly go wrong, right?
He just had to ignore the fact that Childe can no longer leave Liyue and is now kind of obligated to protect the same country he just attempted to wipe off the map. And how through a series of unfortunate events Zhongli may have accidently waged a possible war with the Tsaritsa by simultaneously usurping her advantage in their contract AND more or less stealing one of her Harbingers.
Staring at Childe's healed body, though, and the faint red marks now lining his closed eyes, Zhongli can't help but feel that it'll be worth it. He hopes at least.
Good thing Childe has always been known for his flexibility and optimism.
