Summary
When the man called Taxian-Jun arrives, years later, it’s the coming of a storm.
He sweeps into a dinner appointment between Chu Wanning and a client, clad in black, a smirk tugging at his mouth. Over the spark of irritation, Chu Wanning can’t help but admire his lean frame, the way his hair, cut rebelliously short, falls over smoldering, dark eyes. The way he towers over him, even when Chu Wanning rises to full height.
Chu Wanning’s heart races as Taxian-Jun leans in close, ignoring the shouts and gasps around them.
“Sakaki of Ran,” he purrs in their native tongue. “You’re mine.”
Chu Wanning lifts his chin. “I don’t know you.”
“You will,” Taxian-Jun says, and leaves.

Meng Yao arrived in a helicopter like the dramatic, power-lording son of a bitch he was, finding Mingjue on his break, where he was sitting on the rocks and looking over the gray, lifeless waves. He watched the helicopter set down with little interest.
“Can we talk?” Meng Yao said.
“I’m not piloting,” Mingjue said. He turned back to the waves. Meng Yao sighed through his nose in the stiff, disappointed way he always had, and picked his way over the rocks to him, sitting on a nearer one. He looked uncomfortable, which was good.
“This might be our last chance,” he said.

If the blazing white glow and sharp smell of burning pine are any indication, Raichi managed to fuck something up. Badly. He takes a step back and frantically tries to remember what to do in this situation. Wood fire? Water. Grease fire? Smother with a lid. Spontaneously combusting sandwich? Well, cowering in the corner while holding a tea towel over your nose doesn’t seem like it will work, but somehow it does anyways.

There had been a deathlessness, too, to the feeling that excavated itself from his sternum when he’d seen Kunigami standing at the arrivals terminal of Copenhagen airport—in the sense that Hyoma had thought it dead and gone and buried ever since they’d all left Blue Lock, ever since they’d been recruited by their U20 clubs and dragged to the other end of the world by the promise of victory. It’s only now that he’s here, that Hyoma feels the sharpness of Kunigami’s absence like a knife to the gut, the belated pain of loss surfacing faster than the realization.
He should have known better, he notices now. Nobody makes him feel as deathless as Kunigami does.

Born the first son and only child to a well-respected, powerful sect leader and his just as accomplished wife, he grows up in prosperity and takes to the family traditions from the moment he can walk. Even as a toddler he tries to mimic the disciples’ moves with sticks and plays at night hunting while chasing rabbits in the mountains with his friends.
Or: The trials and tribulations of Nie Mingjue: growing up, meeting and befriending Lan Xichen (and this turning into something more), his troubled little brother, losing his parents, and becoming sect leader too soon.
