Summary
Sometimes, he wishes he was something else, someone else. He’s a coward who wants to covet the heart of a lion, who wants to love a boy but can’t help it when the words rot on his tongue. He’s all longing and long limbs, not someone who is strong or capable of salvation.
The world, according to Kim Gyuvin, is hot, saturated, and beautiful. Ricky is in every little corner, stuck under his nails like clementine skin. He loves him, and he’s terrified.
And then Ricky’s gone, in a way. One failed suicide attempt leaves Gyuvin trying to rebuild their relationship after having messed it up almost entirely. Meanwhile, Ricky tries to ignore the elephant in the room: Gyuvin is fully committed to loving him whole this time around.

three years after ricky leaves his hometown, he gets the call no one ever thinks they’re going to get; he’s been orphaned, a car accident. his childhood home is just a thirty minute drive from his apartment. he’s there by nightfall.
there’s something viscerally disconcerting about being in a place he knows he’s not welcome. being back in his hometown, being around kim gyuvin pushes him constantly to crossroads. in the wake of his family’s deaths, as he grapples with his resentment over the circumstances that forced them apart years ago, ricky faces the dilemma of embracing his cardinal sin, or leaving old wounds behind.

There’s no such thing as ghosts.
Except, he could feel the weight of Ricky’s gaze. He could see the way the mattress dipped beneath him. He could hear the quiet, steady rhythm of his breathing.
"...but they can’t move on because something is keeping them here," the words echoed in Gyuvin’s head.
Gyuvin inherits a mansion from someone he barely knew, let alone liked, and is required to live in it for a full year. Weird. The someone in question—Ricky—is haunting the mansion. Weirder.
(or: boy inherits a haunted mansion and develops a deeply inconvenient attachment to its resident ghost.)

"Nope, my professor canceled." Gyuvin leans his cheek against Ricky's shoulder, pressing even closer to his side. "I'll have to do a make-up class on Friday, which sucks, but for now—" he draws the last syllable out, grinning up at Ricky from beneath his bangs. "I'm free!"
"Congrats," Ricky says dryly, patting Gyuvin's knee.
Gyuvin scrunches his nose and sits up straight so he can give Ricky a look. "I'm free," he repeats, "so let's go somewhere!"

Just then, a thought appears in Ricky’s head, one so mortifying it makes his ears burn. He condemns himself silently for even entertaining such an idea. The younger man only stares at him, eyes shifting around his face and Ricky’s sure he’s noticed the sudden color to his cheeks.
He looks at Gyuvin a little harder then, really looking, ignoring the way it causes him to stiffen up in response. Despite being as rigid as ice, his eyes still have that little sparkle to them, cheeks rosy and Ricky can feel his self-control slipping.

Summary
Gyuvin doesn’t ask. He never does, no matter how badly he wants to. Because if Ricky wants to tell him, he will. They’ve had a system figured out for quite a while now, and although Ricky openly voicing his feelings doesn’t happen very often, the younger boy does his best to ease the worries even a little. He’s the only one Ricky can be fully open with, and that warms his heart just as much as it troubles him.
He wants Ricky to feel the warmth from Hanbin’s hugs of reassurance, or the responses Jiwoong carefully arranges that always managed to be the one thing you wanted to hear, but he’ll wait as long as needed. In the meantime, he’ll try his best to adapt every good habit, giving Ricky bits and pieces of his members’ comfort in the only way he can.

Ricky only giggles, crawling closer to Gyuvin until their noses are almost brushing.
“C’mon, Gyuvin-ah, be a good girlfriend for me.”
Or: Gyuvin seems to end up in dating scandals with everyone—except his pretty boyfriend.

No!” he blurted, his face going scarlet. “I mean—ugh!” He raked a hand through his hair once more, glaring at the floor before forcing himself to meet Ricky’s bewildered gaze again. “Yes, okay, I was going to confess. But not after you first admitted you’re a vampire!”

Hanbin snorts, then coughs out a laugh, then chokes on air before sitting up. “Sure,” he says, voice drowsy. “Sureee,” he drawls out again, presumably because he thinks they didn’t get the message the first time.
Ricky is straight. Gyuvin is straight. They are best friends. They have been just best friends for years.
And yet, everyone still doubts their undeniable heterosexuality.

It was harder to gauge from farther away, from a distance where Ricky couldn't metaphorically and literally hurt him (not that he ever had -- again, it was romantic business. All part of the bit). "No more cute little Strawber-Ricky, eh? You're all hot and blonde now."
Alternatively; Ricky and Gyuvin make a cup of coffee together.
